Can you keep the insert that would be covered in goo? And if you keep it, do you put it straight back in or do you wash it?

I’m guessing I just replace the sealant as regularly as normal, but I don’t know exactly.

Yes, definitely keep it. Far too expensive to bin just because it’s got some goo on it! I just give mine a quick wipe over and stick it back in.
