I'm looking at upgrading my Turbo Levo Expert Carbon 2020 29" wheels and would love some recommendations. I haven't got a fortune to spend but probably no more than £400. I intend to use the stock wheels for road, towpath and farm track stuff and use the new wheels for XC, Bike Park, Muddy etc.

These are the specs of the stock wheels

WHEELS
Front Tire
Butcher, GRID TRAIL casing, GRIPTON® compound, 2Bliss Ready, 29x2.6"
Spokes
DT Swiss Competition Race
Inner Tubes
Standard, Presta valve
Rear Tire
Eliminator, BLCK DMND Casing, 2Bliss Ready, 29x2.3"
Rear Hub
DT Swiss 360, 3-pawl design, SRAM XD driver body, 12mm thru-axle, 148mm spacing, 28h
Front Hub
Specialized, sealed cartridge bearings, 15x110mm spacing, 28h
Rims
Roval Traverse 29, hookless alloy, 30mm width, hand-built, 2Bliss Ready

Any advice would be appreciated. I've looked at Hope Fortus 30. Would they be any better than the stock wheels? Or, Superstar DHX V6 Wheelset - UK Made Hubs?
Should I just buy another set of stock wheels and put some fast rolling tyres on?

Thanks in advance

I have Hope Fortus 30.

Had some hard cases, and they've survived. Unlike the rovals! Back one is out of true now but its had a hard life.

Changing wheels between rides though.... seems like a pain!!

Yes, seems like a pain but I quite often do a circular road route when I can't be bothered getting caked in mud. In summer, I also ride to see family and most of it is road and towpath, with a little farm track thrown in. I would also like to learn a bit more about maintenance of hubs etc and having 2 sets of wheels allows me to do this without pressure.

Does that £400 include tyres?

Superstar components have a sale on at the moment, use code 75WHEEL for 75% off!

You've made my day! Should have been £350 but now £87.50 including delivery for a set of wheels!! I'm now thinking they must be crap:unsure:
Anyway, I'm going to give them a try and see how it goes. Thanks again for alerting me to the sale.

Thanks for the input. Decided to go for the Superstar option, as they have a 75% off sale. If they end up being crap, at least I haven't lost a fortune!

But these are 27,5" wheels ... I guess on emtb they will last also as much as they cost ...

Good luck 👍🏼 riding mates in past have had loads of failures on hubs & their pedals!!! Superstar & moving parts don’t go together 😂 may have changed now but I would never risk it

Maybe the biking Gods are protecting me…Superstar contacted me to say they had refunded me, as they had sold out of the clearance items.!

I think I’ll look at Hope, at least they have a good reputation…not that I’m saying Superstar are bad but I’ll take your word for it

OK, so I decided to purchase Nukeproof Horizon V2 Wheelset and now looking at rotors. I was going to buy Hope floating rotors but my stock Wheels have 200mm and 220mm rotors, so I want to match those sizes, so I don’t have to bugger about using washers/spacers (Remember, I’m looking for a quick wheel swap from fast rollers to mud tyres).

The Hope rotors nearest size to 200mm is 203mm! I have seen some Hope rotors which are 200mm but they don’t do a 220mm in the same style. Any recommendations for 200mm and 220mm rotors in the UK?

Managed to find some 200mm Hope rotors. None of the main bike shops seemed to list them but found some at Rush Cycles in UK. Anyone ever bought from them and recommend?
