O.k. so here is what I always carry on every ride:
Camelback LR pack, with 3 liter reservoir.

Personal protection -
Emergency rain jacket (Rockbros)
Chemical "heat pack"
Pain killer, antihistamine, inhaler, disinfectant, bandage.
Pepper spray(for dogs..)
Pocket/survival knife.
Oakley Jawbreaker sunglasses!
Bag of zipties.
Cheap "toppeak" pump. (Great!)
Used to carry expensive "crankbros" pump.. (terribly slow!..)
Digital topeak press. Guage. (Great!)

Tool pack with -
Ellen set, chain breaker, mini pliers, chain pliers.
And in my "water bottle bag" -
Co2 inflator w/two canisters.
Tubeless patch kit.
Tire spoons
Spare chain link, spare tire cores and valves.

Tim.

Sandwiches, crisps, a creme egg, and 3 liters of ice cold water. The wife is on speed dial to pick me up, in case of a breakdown! :D

You forgot the flares?

This got me thinking - WTF do I really need if it's only a one battery ride, so my new low volume bum bag contains;

330mm drink
chocy bar or similar
Small combo and chain tool
Spoke magnet
Tyre levers
Small pump
Phone

In a small frame top bag

Innertube
Tubeless repair kit
Chain quick link

In a trouser pocket or wearing

Lightweight windproof

I try to always have a small medical kit now after a bad experience where I didn't have anything.

Medical kit is essential! Less than a week ago I was on a ride with 3 other buddies and one of them badly ripped his finger on a branch, I was the only one with the medical kit so it ended quite well ...

Me too trying to not carry backpack. I ordered one up EDC as my tool kit, and bring 33oz (about 1 liter), strap my spare tube on the tube, just ordered a cool looking saddle bag (cyckit) for minimal first aid and whatever else, and I think I can ride 20-22 miles before start thinking of more water.

Sounds sensible - what do you use/recommend?
I got something like this. and added an emergency blanket.
But I think a minimum of a couple of sterile pads, crape bandages and sticky tape would be good.
Add a couple of plasters. (Preferably hello kitty ones ;) ).

Our Haibikes use a spoke magnet to tell the system that the wheel is rotating and if it comes loose and drops off the motor wont work.

I just got one of those for my kit too. I always had one of those magnets that came with the old speedos in my emergency kit, but I notice the new magnet is quite a bit stronger.
