Just fitted some new forks[from China] , they did come with this ring[ and a starnut], i used the existing bearing races , but is this ring a bearing race ? or some sort of adapter/spacer??. Sorry for the noob question , but love to know what its actual correct job is?[not a dust seal as its metal]

Yeah that looks like a Crown Race with a split in it for ease of removal.
I had some chinese air forks that were Fox lookalikes on an Iron Horse I had once.
They were OK - better than Suntour XCM's, not as good as Suntour XCR Air's.
Sold it a few years ago and saw a guy at the bike park riding it - he seemed happy enough.

Ok thanks , so its a seat for a sealed type bearing [mine had caged balls], that makes sense now..

Hey, Ari.
You might want to take a close look at your fork and bearing. The intention of that extra part is to contact the inner race of the bearing, keeping the outer race from contacting the fork. If your bearing is flat on the bottom and you don't have the extra part installed, both bearing races will rub on the fork. Your Chinese fork might be different, but it's something to think about.

Ok , ill check that out , i did hammer out the lower race and installed it on the new forks , but if there is any rubbing ill need to pull it all apart again.
