What ebike would you bike right now?

Ok 15k drops from heaven but you can only spend on a ebike, feck you sorry!

Personally, the Lapierre GLP2 is the most interesting to me, despite the 29er on the front. To me a ebike is as good as it resembles a normal bike, but no way i can give away the power, so Fazua and Levo SL are not for me. Coming from a Rocky Mountain Powerplay I’m the kind of guy who likes weird concepts. Also, its reasonable priced for the emtb market.

What ebike would you buy right now? (And what you own right own)

Presently ... a 2019 Kenevo Expert ...

The OH asked me the other day if I wanted a new emtb ...

I said no..... which I think was the wrong thing to say because when translated to "womanish" .. than means "I can buy a new horse".

I think like most people, I'm actually really happy with what I have. It's faultless and continues to amaze me that I don't break it despite the hard life it has due to my ineptitude.

I do look .. and wonder ... yes, I'd like a larger battery.

Would an SL be more engaging or interesting, maybe - but not as fun uphill ... and I enjoy uphill too.

Would something shiny and new be more exciting .. maybe .. ? at first ..

Would I go faster on another bike ? also maybe ? but maybe not. Me improving as a rider will make the most difference there.

I would like a second bike though .. for visiting friends to ride.

We should really try and sign you up as some form of global EMTB ambassador or something ??

Our dear schizo Gary is right. Ebikes will never be as fun as normal bikes, but feck that endless climbs i trade it even when the descend is on an electric donkey

Ebikes are to normal bikes what plus and 29ers are to a 27.5x2.4 tire

The only bike out there that interests me right now is the La Pierre GLP, mainly because I think the weight placement and general concept behind it would be interesting to try.

TBH I dont think EMTB's have really moved on much in the last few years - we have more choice, but I cant see a better riding full fat emtb that has been launched since I got my E-Sommet over tow years ago, yes lots of prettier bikes that are also heavier and less fun to ride.

The Levo SL is interesting, but apart from the motor and weight the bike doesn't tick any boxes for me.

If Specilized bring out a SL Evo or similar, along the lines of the Stumpjumper Evo, that comes in under 18kg then I will be very tempted.

I dont need or want more power, the range of the 504wh is fine for what I ride, and with the new 630wh external battery that Shimano are releasing I will be able to get the range from one battery if I want more, so I cant really see a regular EMTB coming in the near future that will be better than my current one - though of course that could all change, and my Vitus is getting pretty battered now.

Next to GLP i keep an eye on the Whytes, when they came in carbon. Weight is also very low, with the 500wh battery instead the 625wh that ebike must handle the best an ebike can do too

The Scott eGenius 900 Tuned I picked up recently IS that bike for me.

Giant does not quite do it for me, Speshy is meh, tried a RM Altitude and did not like the rear suspension layout - I can look at all sorts of other brands but my reality is that I prefer to buy from a LBS.

I think something like an evolution E Zesty.....lighter, better motor engagement and cheaper obviously....

But I think most emtbs will stay plus 20kg, or even likely more than that for the foreseeable future, until lighter, more powerful batteries come about.

It's all about the battery capacity vs the motor output. Interesting times ahead though...

The Forrestal, for its innovativeness, or the Olimpian for its battery, the Rotwild for its brutish monstertruckness

I think you're spot on here.

I've not bought one yet but am hiring and trying ebikes when I can, with a view to buying at some point. Having hired an Orange Phase and more recently, Whyte E150 RS, my thoughts are they do need to lose some weight.

I rode the latter last Monday (before fracturing my elbow unfortunately following a pedal strike) and really enjoyed it. The number of laps achieved in a short space of time was fantastic.

Descending took some time to get used to and over bumpy, flatter ground, it was fabulous. Remembering to brake earlier is important to prevent overshooting corners and it was very stable. On steeper sections though, I found the brakes struggling to wipe off speed and wanted my normal (admittedly bigger travel) bike. I am talking the steepest sections only but it weight was noticeable. The Mr Rooty trail at the Forsest of Dean was more of a struggle than fun.

Get these things down to sub 18kg's, stop selling them without 220mm rotors, spec with Fox 38's and I'm there though.

Trek Rail 7 2020 version would be hard to resist for me.
Shimano gears and brakes which I prefer
Full suspension
Decent travel forks
Bosch motor
Large 625 battery
Colour (2020 red version looks awesome and I prefer it over the 2021 version which looks too bright)
Aluminium frame (there is just something about carbon on a device which gets bashed around which scares me. Probably dates back to when I played golf. I still have my metal frame clubs. All my carbon shafted clubs either splintered or exploded.

Personally the latest YT Decoy Race Pro (mullet setup version) with a bigger battery and lower overall weight would be close to perfect.

Story of my life. Those models maintenance fees are not so bad......generally. The devil is that once you’ve smashed it in every way possible you want a new model.....yours just Doesn’t look the same anymore.
Yes our hobbies are a problem. Already tired of my bike. Keep putting her away dirty.
Indeed. And you don't want to go tubeless.
