What bike are you buying next?

Changed my upgraded e-hardtail(that i had for 5 years) for a haibike fullnine 10 like 1.5 week ago. Couldn't have bought a better bike for the money I think as I had a 1700 euro discount on the new price.

Geo was something I needed to adapt to as it's totally different. But in the end I'm so happy I made the step. Now going back to my hardtail it feels weird riding it as it's not my bike anymore.

I 'took a chance' on the relatively unknown brand 'Fulgur' and bought their 'Mula'.

It's absolutely incredible.

Other bikes in our family fleet, for me to directly compare with include:-

A 2021 Lapierre GLP-2 Team (a great bike, but the suspension isn't anything like as good as the Mula and the brakes are just Code Rs, so pretty crap)
A 2022 Mondraker Crafty R (good but heavy)
A Levo SL with a bunch of upgrades. (Which I do enjoy riding but it's just not as good)
2x 2020 Giant Trance E+0 (heaps of junk on which almost everything has had to be upgraded/replaced)

There's a few things on the Mula that I changed before I even rode it, such as I fitted an AXS derailleur because I wasn't happy with the shift cable routing. The reason being was that I'd had loads of shifting problems with the Trance because of cable routing. I might not have had any trouble with the Mula, because it's on Shimano not SRAM like the Giant was, but I already had the AXS derailleur and really liked the crisp shifts that it gives.

The Shimano XT derailleur that I took off the Mula is now on my Trance, along with the new super-slippy Shimano cable, and so far it's shifting ok, so would probably have been fine anyway.

Have you already got the motor? I went through that process & found it wasn't worth it. Good fun project though

ive got one on my big fat dummy and was more than impressed. I can slide the same unit into the session as the surly but am waiting for a second motor unit. What made yours not worth it in your eyes?

I've been keeping an eye out, but I don't think I can do better than what I have; Merida e140 ltd 2020. It's a budget bike. I used to think that I should have got an e160, but the e140 has better geo for climbing and nimbleness. I'm also appreciative of it now that I'm getting into jumps. I've made a couple of minor upgrades to suit me. It has a budget fork that most folk seem to whinge about but it works for me. The only bike I'd get right now would be the e160, but I'm still learning on my current ride. My requirements are aluminium, not that slack, mullet or 27.5 both ends, short chainstay, short wheelbase, steep seat tube angle, high stack, high bb. The other advantage with merida is the 36 spoke rear wheel - I don't know any other emtb that has this. The e160 would be better on the drops - another thing I'm getting into.

Looking for inspiration I’m going to replace my levo this year and don’t really know what to replace it with.
levo is great but I fancy a change maybe a Scott genius or trek rail but I’m not sure. What bike are you thinking of buying next and why.

The only FF I have any interest in in the Yeti but more likely a light e-bike like the rumored Levo SL or the alloy Rise. For now, the Levo SL works fine, especially since I use it as my secondary mountain bike.

I have no idea all the bikes I like have Shimano and I want to stay with Bosch motor. Cube have not changed much so will not be another one not a fan of Trek so currently no idea.

I feel the same so sticking with my Moterra 1. It's been super reliable and performs pretty nicely as a mullet. Had an engine mount break so Bosch gave me a new motor which was nice of them so bought a new battery so I have plenty of juice now for those really big days

I'm still deliberating, and I have plenty more time doing that while I'm saving up :)
Currently I'm thinking Levo Carbon Comp, and I keep looking at others but coming back to it.
It's a combination of:
  • Mullet, which I want this time around
  • 700w
  • Correct reach for me in the 470 bracket
  • Very light for a full fat, while still having that 700w
  • Excellent integration/cockpit/app
  • No motor rattle
  • Configurable geo
  • Natural feeling power delivery (admittedly less low down than the Bosch apparently, but I'm ok with that).
  • Good support from manufacturer/local dealer
These are the pros that matter for me, currently balancing out the cons that do hurt for me which are:
  • Expensive
  • Reliability concerns (I had a 2018 Levo which had issues, and it appeared to get worse with the gen 2, but I'm willing to take the plunge again now, the good support being a big part of why)
  • Shitty components relative to the $$$$$$
I'd be buying a Carbon Comp knowing full well I'll replace the suspension with top shelf after a year, and honestly I'll probably bling out with some Santa Cruz Reserves and fancy brakes sooner rather than later too. If there's a wait, I'll just go the Expert :)

Certainly not for me I was normally with specialised but the spec and price of there Ebikes are a joke and for me I think the Trek are even worst.
Might be different in other countries but here in AUS the Trek looks to be a lot better value than the Specialized bikes. That's not to say they're available though. I'd be keen on the 9.8XT Rail if it had a size with appropriate reach for me, but I still think it'd be a bit of tank like my last bike, and like I'm hoping the Levo would be at least a bit less of (heavy, monster truck).

I just got a SCOR 4060z ST. Great bike for the money and with Shimano brakes and drivetrain. Don’t like SRAM except for their AXS shifter which I will be installing.
