Answer: 2 mid-drive e-bike motors!
I find this pretty much impossible. Two drives, 2 batteries, two saddles, extended frame, etc. That’s at least a 74-78lb setup right there.62 lbs with Eddy Current tires.
The Shimano drive, battery, battery mount etc adds 12 lbs per unit. So, 24 lbs over what the bike would weigh as a regular tandem. The frame is all carbon. Our racing tandem hard tail from the same builder is under 35lbs. Our heavy Ventena ECDM, full suspension tandem builds Is under 45lbs. Two riders does not equal twice the weight.I find this pretty much impossible. Two drives, 2 batteries, two saddles, extended frame, etc. That’s at least a 74-78lb setup right there.
Always thought it was a bit selfish only one of the riders having the motor.
The motor‘s clutches takes care of any issues. Independent pedaling front and rear. I made a short video in the stand a while back. We were featured in EMBN forward to 20:30I would love to see a vid on it, and how it works - is there some funky gearing to get the two motors to work together without issue?
