Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon with my new Levo SL. Once back, dried it off and went to charge up, checked Mission Control first and got a warning message to remove TCU and check cables etc clean and dry. Took it out and a bit wet, so have dried it all off and it’s in a warm room, so fingers crossed.

any advice ? Is it likely to dry out and be ok ? Should I leave charging it for now ? Any tips on how to seal it better ? West coast of Scotland so it’s going to get wet...

It’s ok now, so have left in warm room overnight. It appeared that the error code disappears after a 3 hour period ?

any suggestions for waterproofing ?

You could spray the wires/metal contacts with ACF 50 spray. It’s fine to use on electricals. If you have not come across this product before, i am sure that many people on here will vouch for it. It will waterproof and stop any moisture getting onto metals surface so will also stop corrosion. It lasts up to a year.

I put a tiny amount of car gasket sealant around the inner edge (Underside) of the TCU cover before screwing it back on.

Put some ducktape around the bottom of the TCU where the USB Port connector is, that helps on the sealing. This hack helps to keep the moisture out of the TCU.

My TCU is consistently wet after a rainy ride or even washing with a low power hose. I unscrew the 2 screws holding the TCU and allow everything to dry out. The water is not entering between the gap between the TCU and the frame; it is entering through two areas: the junction whereby the cables enter the frame (near the head tube), and the entry point of the base of the steerer tube entering the frame. For the former, I am trying some clear sealant. In order to protect the TCU, I attempted to seal it by covering with electrical tape; this was ineffective and resulted in locking moisture in. I have been advised NOT to spray any parts with water displacement/ electrical contact spray etc. I am astonished and dismayed that Specialized have shown absolutely no regard to attempting to waterproof this area of the SL. Hope this helps.

ACF50 spray is used on aircraft engines and electrics exposed to the weather. its an anti corrosion liquid, not contact spray or water displacement spray. It's not WD40 and contains no silicone.
