I decided to replace My Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 and my wifes Hardtail Treck Powerfly with the new generation 2020 models. Went to my LBS where I have spent about €9000 over the last few years to try out the new bikes. When it came to Price, I asked for a discount as a valued customer and as I am buying 2 bikes at the same time.
The answer was, "The bikes are selling so fast at the moment, why should he give a discount when next week he can probably sell them at full price!".
Made me sad.
On Friday I found the bikes online from a Munich chain (20 minutes away) for 10% discount. So I phoned my LBS again and said I could get them with 10% discount, is he willing to do anything on the price. Again no.
So I ordered them. The €1,500.00 saved comes from the 10% discount, and the fact that I could get a not so high end model from my wife.

Every year when my insurance renewal come though?

... more to the point, obviously you LBS does not see you as a valued customer (9K or not), shrug and move on, it's their loss not yours. Maybe next time, he won't assume you'll fall over to give him some of your hard earned cash.
