Hi All,

Today, 1month without riding, just 1km and motor stop and w011 error in display...
comeback at home and right now display is not showing any speed and this error will pop just to move the cranks&wheels for 3meters...

Magnet in disc is ok, so it would be the cable sensor, right??

Email send to Yt, wait for answer?

Any help here??

I saw some other rider dropped the motor to change cable... it would be a hard work for myself...

Thks for help??

Hi,

I had the same issue. Came back from a ride, washed the bike, next day, I had the error. I fiddled around with the speed sensor at the back and eventually, the error disappeared, but speed was only showing when I was pedaling, so not very trustworthy. I did not want to end up with the error in some valley, 30 km from home...

I wrote to YT, after 2 weeks of no reply, I called them. They said that in principle, I should send in the bike, however they also said that I will not see it back this summer. I live in Switzerland, so custom clearance etc. in between.....

So, I decided to order a replacement speed sensor (20 €). Thanks to other users in this forum, I was able to drop the motor and replace it myself. It was not that hard, but needs some time and patience. Now everything works fine again.

So, long story short:
1. Call them, don't wait for an email reply
2. If you don't live in Germany or at least the EU, forget about sending it back
3. If you can't drop the motor yourself, take it to a shop and carry the cost
4. If you can do it yourself, or with the help of some technical skilled friends, it might be worth a try, but be aware of the risk that you lose the warranty if you mess around

Hi Ichauchtt,

I just ordered a cable.

I will wait for YT answer, but meantime I will change it by myself to ride asap!

I can’t undestand why its not working anymore just in 1month without use of the bike, its a cable??

Imagine if you plan a trip to Alps for a week and this occurs firt day??

Thks for your comment??

Yes, it is odd that such a cheap and simple part can bring your bike to a standstill.

I fiddled around with the sensor. When I loosened the screws of the sensor, the error disappeared, when I tightened them more, it stopped working. But as said, it did not work at all when not pedaling, but at least I was able to ride until the new sensor came. I guess there was some kind of a shortcut within the sensor when it was bent to a certain angle (very tiny tolerance). I cut it open after I replaced it, but did not find anything. Could be just a manufacturing error or it was not fully watertight...???

Good luck with the replacement!

My Sensor was replaced due to W011 errors. But even with New Sensor from time to time i have this error. Moving the Sensor cable helps. I can live with this because it only shows up every once in a while.

Cable’s shipment delayed for the weekend, so I did some checking to use the bike in these days.

I took the motor out of the frame (thks for all info & pictures??). It was easier than I suspected!

Check cable & port, I saw that the rubber piece that get into the frame with rear brake & sensor lines were out of the groove in the frame... maybe cable got a stress in a compression due this issue.

So, reinstall everything, pay much care while mounting the 2smalls screws that attach the sensor to the frame, as ichauchtt pointed, if you tight too much, it doesn’t work!!

And is working again without any error yet... just waiting fir the new cable but riding!!

Look to this rubber piece if its in place??

Tomorrow July 14, it will be delivered!

Not so late??

I hope that this helps someone!

I have been getting error W011 more and more over time. Eventually it didn't go away when I rebooted my bike several times. I had to something about it.

I figured, the speed sensor signal must be getting weaker because of the dirt blocking the magnet field, or the speed sensor connector gets oxidized, or the magnet loses it strength.

I cleaned the magnet and the sensor, but it didn't help. I was lazy and I didn't want to drop the motor to be able to check the connector, so I tested to boost the original magnet. I attached a bigger magnet to the disc rotor next to original magnet.

This solved to problem for me!

I guess that the original magnet should be stronger at the beginning.

Ps. Remember to remove the original magnet, if you use this hack :)

I've heard the magnet trick as well, but it did not work out for me, at least not consistently. It slightly improved the situation but not for long.

I think, the sensor cable problem has to do with the connection to the motor which might develop some corrosion overtime. Then, there is no choice but to change the cable.
