Veers "Shift Drive" - belt drive gear box alternative ?!?! 🤔😱

We've seen a few different gearbox's, MGU's, Hub gear systems ..

This one is a bit more unusual - the video explains it best :


As far as I can tell, it only gives you two speeds. 42 and 24 and I can't see it lasting long in a traditional MTB environment.

Before I started ebiking, when my dayly riding consisted of riding up and down an 1000 ft hill, I dreamed of having a bike with only two rings and two sprockets, sized so that I could place the chain with my hands on climb or descend mode.
For riding on flatlands, two speed is never going to enough, and this belt deraileur system looks like it would not stand the power of a motor, it looks creative, though.
