Hi all

Can I ask people's thoughts on the standard tyres on Kenevo Comp 21 and what tyre width people have had the best results with on the rims?

How well sealed are the rims as stock to put straight to tubeless?

Standard tyre
Butcher, BLCK DMND casing, 2Bliss Ready, 27.5 x 2.6"

The reason I ask is the bike hopefully will be herer end of the month. Its a replacement for my Allmtn 7 running 2.6 from and 2.8 rear E Wilds Gum X.

Thanks again all

The rims are good for going tubeless and Roval tubeless valves are also good.
Depending on the tyre manufacturer, the tubeless transition is easy and the tyre goes well on, even with normal floor pump.

I personally don't like Butcher as a front tyre, so I have used Michelin e wild front, Maxxis DHF and Schwalbe Magic Mary.
All 2.6 size.

Thank you never used the specialised tyres. I do really like the E Wilds front an back with Rimpact pros.

Are the rims sealed and if so how good is the seal?

Good day.

I own a 2020 Kenevo since November 2019. Initially, during winter time and the Kenevo being my first eMTB I did not like the Butchers. I felt I did not have enough support and that the tyres were folding. Also, I did not like them in wet or muddy conditions. I switched to Maxxis Assegai Downhill TR tyres, 2.50WT. Grip is awesome. Quality is very good. Longevity is very bad. During summer time, I needed one back tyre every 4th ro 5th weekend... Battery consumption is much higher with these tyres as well.

Currently, I am back to the original tyres, Butcher 2.6 Black Diamonds. I am running 28psi in the back and 26 psi in the front tyre in order to keep them sturdy. I also run an insert in the back, made by Vittoria, suitable for 2.5-2.7 tyres. These are much faster tyres than the Assegai DH set I used. Battery life is also better. Grip is not better than the Assegais for sure but not much worse either. After owning the bike for so much time, now that I know the bike much better and my suspension is setup properly, I feel that performance wise, the Butchers are great. I will keep them for summer, I hope longevity wise these will hold on.

I have used successfully for tubeless setup the original valves, the original 2Bliss tape, Spank Fratelli tape, DT Swiss tape and Peaty's valves and sealant. All have been working properly.

Hope this is helpful.

The 28 DH rims are very good. I have just managed to flat spot the rear rim and broke 6 spokes, however, after replacing the spokes it works fine )just with an incurable flat spot. It was a big impact that would have likely destroyed most carbon rims and alloy ones. They are very strong - way stronger than the 38 rovals on the older Kenevo which I busted straight away.

Thank you that's great to know.

I will be converting to tubeless and running rimpact pros straight off. So sounds perfect for me, especially being a heavy rider.
