Hi Guys, my 9.8 doesn't arrive for a few months yet but am interested in how many of you have frame wrap kits installed. Ive read the paint can be easy to damage on trek's.

I'm looking at a tailored kit from "ride wrap", but interested to hear others options on decent protection.

Thanks

You can order a tailored kit for you 2022 rail 9.8 at invisiframe.co.uk
I ordered it a couple of weeks ago but my bike has not yet arrived....

I've used invisiframe as well...their kits are very detailed in terms of coverage, it does take some time to fit the kit and there is a bit of a knack to it, it's the second kit I've fitted and still don't have it perfect. I got a gloss kit for my Rail which I found easier to fit than the matt one I got for my Remedy. Seems really durable, I've never tried anything else so can't compare

I had the LBS Invisiframe my Rail before I picked it up. 2 years of abuse later and it's looking pretty sorry for itself so I'm going to remove it all and redo it.

Invisiframe is really high quality. I did my bike. It took about a day but it's holding up. I'm really happy with the kit and would buy it again.

This morning I ordered a RideWrap “Tailored Protection” frame kit for our Rail 9.8s. Supposedly they ship in 1-2 days. Will review upon application and use. Nervous about my ability to apply it. Wife said I must practice on my bike first, then do hers…

Having fitted both RideWrap and Invisiframe. Invisiframe is certainly easier to apply. I have just fitted the Ridewrap to my rail. My advise is lots of light, and take your time. it will take hours to do. I have some pretty bad bubbles.

I've fitted a ridewrap kit to a levo. You need to be really patient and take your time with it, if you have bubbles forming pull the wrap back, spray some more and reapply. Watch a couple of youtube vids.
Leave it 24 hours before you ride to let it properly dry out. Took me about 5 hours in total

Thanks for all the replies so far. I went and spoke to the LBS I have ordered the rail from and he mentioned invisiframe being good. He has an employee that had her bike done by a local car detailer. They use “expol” protection film on Mclarens, Porsche & Lamborghini cars.

He said the company will apply the full invisiframe kit to the bike for around £160. I thought that was expensive but for having someone else deal with the hassle on an expensive bike I think it’s fine.Once the bike gets here in July I’ll let you know how I get on.

Applied the RideWrap “Tailored Protection” frame kit to our Rail 9.8s this week. Did mine first and found it very difficult to apply. Not happy with results. Did my wife’s the next day and using lessons learned from the day before, it came out fairly well. Have not tested its durability yet.

Yea this is what scares me the most, protection maybe fine but if I stuff some parts up then its an expensive problem. Then possibly having to reorder sections of kit and reapply them.

My LBS put invisiframe on the Rail for me before I picked it up. Cost £75 for the film and £100 to fit. They've done a good job.
