Trek rail bearing replacement

Hi all anyone replace the bearings on their rail. Mines a 2020 rail 7 and there's play developing in the back end can't quite work out where it is.

Also how the fu@k do you get mino link bolts out mine will not come out so i can't check of it's coming from there or main pivot.

Replaced mine recently, the wear on mine was from the main pivot bearing.
The mino link bolts just pull out, there is nothing holding them

It's the 10mm wide one.

Yes you do have to remove the chainring ☹
I've had 3000 trouble free miles on mine, but after removing the chainring noticed it keeps coming loose now.
Used lock tight and more torque, so hope it stays put now.
Would cause untold damage if it came off ?

They just unscrew, if they are not moving they must be seized.
Spray with wd40 and leave over night and try again.

Thank you. I will try with wd40. it looks like the bolt is firmly seated in the bearing. Both.

Hi. You were right. the bearing is slightly rusted and the bolt is stuck. wd40 solved the problem

thanks for posting the Video when i stripped my main pvot the bolt had a lot of wear for bike thats kust done 2000km . So the parts kit from Trek for £44 is by far the best value option as it contains a new bolt,nut spacer and the 2 bearing required . part number is in the video. Thanks Again

They are not in stock at all warehouses, so they may have had to order it from across the country - a challenge if they've never done that before.

I've recently replaced all the frame bearings on my Rail. I got all the extractors and presses from Jim at BearingProTools. Really helpful with any questions etc, tools are well priced. I have a couple of the RRP tools as well, but found the BearingPro kit more useful, especially on the lower shock mount bearings where the RRP kit fouls on the frame and prevents you getting the bearing out straight. Also the RRP kit is no good on the main pivot, because you can't get in behind the bearing.

I like the idea of winding the bearings out over tapping them out (due to lack of having a workshop type environment at home!)

If you could advise exactly which ones you used to remove and replace the main pivot bearing, that'd be grand, cheers

The RRP system looks very neat, but only if you can get decent access to each bearing I guess.

You can just use a threaded bar with some nuts, then use the old bearings as the drifts to push the new ones in.
For ease though and the fact I've done it a few times now I bought the above press kit which is excellent for the money, and can do all the bearings on the bike.
Unfortunately the bearings are blind, so you will have to drift them out. Don't be afraid to do this, they come out quite easily.

The wind-out extractors are a new addition and weren't available when I bought my tools.
The only place you'll be able to use those however is on the rocker / seatstay pivot, the rocker/upper shock mount and possibly the lower shock mount too. The same tool will do all of these bearings, since they all have the same ID & OD, only difference is the width . (Rocker/seatstay is 3800 10x19x8, upper & lower shock mount are 6800 10x19x5)
So simply select 3800 from the drop down menu Bearing Puller (Wind-Out Type)
And do the same for the press drifts
Bearing Press for Bicycles (drifts only)
The rocker main pivot (3801 12x21x8) and the main pivot (chainstay - 3803 17x26x10) are both blind so you will need this puller

It's a modified dynabolt that grips the inner race, so when you tap it from behind with the drift it will come out straight and not damage the frame.
The handles are just 8mm threaded rod so either make your own or buy theirs.
