Trek rail 9.8 vs orbea wild fs m10

Hello I'm having a real hard time in choosing my first ebike as I keep changing my mind but I think I've narrowed it down to these two , has anyone experienced both bikes ? I would appreciate some feed back thanks

Yeah it's a nightmare trying to choose I like the look of both bikes, I think value for money the orbea is alot better , but I keep getting drawn to the rail I can test ride the rail when this is all over but not the orbea

28 spokes on the trek for a heavier bike etc. The only broken spokes I've seen on the trail were on 28 spoke wheels, admittedly from Giant. Merida ebikes have 36 on the rear - this seems logical. I'd go the orbea I should also acknowledge, the 28 spoke thing could be very well implemented - I don't know. Maybe even giant's wheels are better made now?

I had a orbea wild fs m team, cracking value but i cracked the rear chainstay, which was a pain, the bike shop was a nitemare so after 3 months without the bike it was returned by UPS wrecked in transit, refund issued and a trek rail 9.8 xt bought instead

I have The Rail 9.8 and the Orbea Wild FS Team, if I had to choose one bike I'd buy the Orbea, thank Christ I didn't have to choose one bike. Both are fantastic bikes, I find the Orbea easier to ride slow, the Rail has to be going above 15 mph before it really start to come alive, or "ride on rails", that's fast for my old body. Until I can really dial in the Rockshox (and I spent many hours trying), the Fox seems like it's got better small bump compliance, here in the Northeast US Rocky Rooty and Rough, plush is very welcome.

I rode the Orbea today on slow technical rocky trails, after riding the Trek 9.8 the previous several days. I still think the Orbea rides easier than the Trek, which is of course a fantastic riding bike. Oddly I think both ride better than the Turbo Levo S Works, which is again a Fantastic ride, but after four motors a full refund was offered and taken. So today I was trying figure out what accounts for the Orbea (personally) riding better in technical landscapes. (I promise I'll get to it). After looking at the geometry of both bikes I can't explain it I thought the Orbea felt like it must have shorter chain stays, nope longer, so maybe the longer chainstays help? I don't understand geometry enough to know.
One major difference is the suspension. The Fox vs Rockshox. The Fox is more plush for sure, after removing all volume spacers the Rockshox it's getting close. Please, remember I'm specifically speaking about very technical slow riding here launching the bike up and on or over, coming to a momentary track stand and take another few pedal strokes, really lurching the bike around over Rock features. I'm 66 and I don't launch the bike off jumps of any size at speed, better to fall off going 0 and wrestle with rocks and shrubs. I bought the Orbea from California shipped to Boston, so warranty service is for shit. The nearest Trek dealer is less than a mile. Both bikes have Bosch motors and batteries, and have been have been trouble free with less than a thousand miles each. I have more money than years left to mountain bike, so I have three, including a 2016 Pivot shuttle another fantastic ride has been super dependable over 3000 miles. I want to ride every day, 8 days in a row and electric mountain bikes break constantly, two out of three were broken two weeks ago. I've given up trying to save money on this class of bike, we must have spares if we're to ride, and we must ride to live, before we die, oh sorry that's not an upbeat way to end. I've figured the right advice for you, buy them both!

Thank you for the info. Please, how tall and heavy are you? I have a Trek Rail 7 and also a new 2021 Orbea Rise M10. I love both. They're both large frames, but the Orbea fells smaller (I don't know why). By the way, the Orbea Rise is very light and powerful (easier than the track for tight curves).

I'm 6 foot 210 pounds with gear. Let me ask you about the rise. I ride in Turbo all the time on both the Trek and Orbea, do you miss the extra torque even with the weight savings?

Hello Ruti, the M10 Rise is the best bike I've ever had for a large margin. Every review I watched on the internet was lacking the right information about the rise: it has plenty of power on Profile's 2 boost. I guess the reviewers forgot to use the Etube app and change to profile 2. I also maxed out all the assist on boost (profile 2) using the etube app. Yes, it has so much power on that mode (60NM feels really good). It's so much better than the Specialized SLs (not even in the same league - 35NM vs real 60NM). Bike is very light and very well built. The quality of the Shimano and other components is amazing. The bike doesn't even look like an ebike. And now that I got used to its frame, I much prefer it than my Trek Rail 7. Actually I sold my Trek Rail 7 after getting used to the Rise M10. I was going to buy the Wild FS but they're all sold out. I ended up buying a Santa Cruz Bullit. Let me know if you have any questions on the Rise. BTW, the battery cover on my Rise is already broken (it's such a bad designed part). I've been having a hard time getting Orbea to send me the part. I've been using a velcro to keep the battery cover in its place.

I bought a small Wild FS 10 (for a small lady) that has the Fox 38 the difference is significant over the 36 and the Lyric but it's heavier.

That Rise is a real looker, I agree hard to see the motor and battery, send some pics if you've got some.

That Rotwild looks pretty good! Looks a lot like the Rise. I'm sending you some pictures. It has an internal battery, so I couldn't take a picture of it.
Trust me, I'm 6'1 200 pounds and the Orbea has plenty of power. That 60Nm feels like much more. You should try one.
Let me know if you need any other info.
Rise's display isn't a display. It looks like a dongle with a led (picture attached). But you can use the Garmin app to see all data (including battery usage).

How is the Santa Cruz Bullit vs the Orbea Rise in power? What was the main reason to also buy the Santa Cruz Bullit?

FYI, a friend recently purchased an Orbea wild m20 and having looked at the geometry vs the Rail I’d place a large in between a medium and large if it were a Trek for the major measurements. Additionally, the head angle is steeper by a half or a whole degree depending on the minochip position so that would make it just a bit quicker steering.
