Buy an extra chain and swap them round every couple of rides, keep the chain pukka cleanI'm picking up my first ebike trek rail 9.8 large and was wondering what people do to maintain them I've ordered shorter hope 155mm crank arms as I'm going to run 27.5x2.8 tryes with it also and advice would be appreciated thanks
I love the plus tryes when I go to trail centres so much grip and with a cushcore installed and eddy current tryes with thick casings dont think I'll be getting any flats , and when I do off piste stuff up cannock chase ill swap back to 29er wheelsInterested in why you're swapping to 27.5.
Oh right I'll ask at the bike shop tomorrow about that thanks155 are too short. I've been told your motor will have to be retuned for anything shorter than 160mm.
You will want to move your mino link to the high position when going to a 27.5. Will give you 6-8mm more of BB clearance.
I was thinking of making the forks 170mm as wellBut also steepen the head angle if using 27.5 at both ends. Really, you want longer forks to compensate for the smaller diameter front wheel.
I'm only changing it to 27.5x2.8 every now and then , maybe when I go to trail centres and will switch back to 29ers when I go off piste best of both worlds I thinkJust out of interest if you are changing the wheels, forks etc how did you arrive at the Rail as a bike choice? There would have been many 27'5 bosch powered bikes already set up similar?
