Hi,
I recently purchased a bosch connect module for my new rail 9.8 (thinking it would Fit) only to find out the bottom motor cover is too tight to allow fitting. I was just about to send it back when i stumbled across a video on YouTube that placed the connect module about the battery in the bike frame. A longer smart cable is needed but i found a 1500mm one for £11.99. i have just completed the installation and it all works fine. you only need to remove 6 screws, 4 in the motor cover and two in the top battery holder latch cover. I've put a link to the video below.
it refers to the SX motor but the gen4 CX motor is better to work on as the connectors are easier to access.

Hope someone finds this useful.

A little off-topic but I’ve removed a couple of wiring cables from the Bosch motor that were not being used. This free’d up some room above the motor (rats-nest) but left 2 female plugs open to the elements.

I ordered some silicone plugs that fit into this model of motor. A very thin swipe of dialectic grease around the the ribs of the male plugs probably helped prevent water ingress into the female plugs. So far so good 👍🏻

Hi, does this still hold up?

Can you give more details on the cables you removed please? Any photos?

One was the light (or power cable). I can’t remember what the other one was. But I haven’t needed or used them in 5 years. (Bosch CX gen4).

There are two types of plugs however. Round and oval for different years and generation of motors.
