I bought a low spec rail 5 knowing that I would be adding upgrade parts that I already had but one thing I overlooked was the oversized crown on the fork.
My 2020 version of the rail came with a Rockshox 35 rl gold which makes just about any other rock shox for with 35mm stanchions are bigger an upgrade.
I have seen that others have fitted standard crown forks to the Rails oversized head tube but, to me, they look wrong. Not only that but selling the original Rail forks on is also a problem as the oversized crown looks even worse on a smaller head tube. I’m sure that with the new generation of forks on the market being so good, a number of a rail owners will have upgraded leaving them with an own Rail fork that is only compatible with a bike with an oversized head tube.
If this is to be correct and anyone is selling their own Rail forks please don’t hesitate to let me know as I am currently looking.
