First draft of Dalby is available. Cut down to 14 minutes (I'll be surprised if anyone not there watches all of it!). There's more on the cutting room floor if needed! :p Even managed to get our host as the main frame for publishing! Steve, you are going to be famous!

Sorry for the point of view, camera settings had reverted to Linear, not wide as I usually have them. Also image stabilisation switched off as battery was getting low.

Excellent Tony, thanks for putting that together. Great to see some of the ride from your perspective. You hit some of the trails jumps and drops well, so many people just roll over those, especially on their first ride. You found the right line over Vera’s rocks too. Good effort ??

We'll see about that. i had a hard time chopping it down short enough :D Had to get it sorted so i can free up enough space on the PC to start doing anything with my cannock chase footage  ? It comes across as flattering but i just don't think people want to see me pedalling along flat ground for an hour ?

Excellent, enjoyed watching that, thanks for putting it all together. Glad you speeded up the pedalling into the bombholes section as that’s exactly how I feel on that part, loads of flat trail to get through until you finally reach the holes. It’s worth remembering that the red XC route was developed by Pace Cycles in the late eighties to be ridden on fully rigid and early hardtails, which would have been a very different experience to riding it on current full suspension eebs!

I'm obviously biased but the chin mounted go pro always helps to make things look faster whilst remaining really steady

Didn't want to chop out too much hence the decision to speed it up 4x.

Of I had plugged the volspeed back in I'd probably enjoy it more going above 16mph on the flat without feeling like riding through treacle 😅

Yes one of the reasons for ordering the Rise is that I’m hoping I can more easily maintain speeds of around 20mph without feeling like my heart is about to explode

Yes, you might enjoy it more, but don't forget you have to share trails with non eeb MTB riders.
I believe the motor threshold on eebs to be entirely appropriate.
Leave EMTB motor cut-off speeds where they are, clue is in the MTB bit.

It's a can of worms not for this topic but I'll keep it short for the conflicting arguments.

First off I currently don't have it fitted to the bike.

Against:
1) it's illegal to ride on public land with a derestricted bike

For
1) I could pedal a regular MTB at a higher speed comfortably so I don't see how I'd be catching people going the same speed as them.
2) I don't expect people to move out of my way, at Cannock if I caught up with people on the hills I just dropped to eco or off and held their pace unless they moved out of the way of their own choosing.
3) some terrain including jumps require a few extra mph to clear safely.
4) the USA seem to think 20mph is fine, so it's more of a random beauracratic decision over anything else.

What we have to do is ride considerably and treat others with respect on the trail. I'm talking about doing 18/19mph not 25+. If speed was an issue we wouldn't be allowed to go down hills. My max speed at dalby going by Strava was 23mph, which feels quite slow and probably incorrect.

Just checked mine, 22mph, probably about right. Fastest sections for me are usually the two after ‘bombholes’, where you put the text on your video about having to peddle and could do more with descent

I did 8mph for 5miles ..sometimes dropping below that because of the great lump of a thing in front of me ..and all because I forgot my charging cable for my phone..
Google maps ate my battery and shortly after setting off I realised I only had 15% charge ..missed my turning when the battery ran out ..(at this point I should explain I'm talking about my car journey home 😂)..and ended up on the very outskirts of Whitby at a roundabout where I couldn't safely get out just before an abnormal load ( huge crane) and its escort vehicles front & back blocked my exit ..I was then the first vehicle in what became a massive queue behind this monstrosity ..where everytime you thought there was an opportunity to overtake ..an oncoming vehicle appeared ..very ,very frustrating ..22mph would have been Heaven!
Mind you when the opportunity did arise I had nothing in front of me for miles and the 3litre V6 had the time of its life going over the NY Moors in ' Dynamic' mode 😂

I’m looking to scratch my Dalby Forest itch now the my bike is sorted.
Dates I’ve in mind 06/11/21 and 13/06/21……..any chance of meeting up ?

Heh EMF. We can’t do the 13th June as that was 4 months ago but we can do the 13th November 👍🏻 Can only do the afternoon on the 6th as she works until 1pm every other Saturday. Free all day on Sundays though, but Saturday 13th also sounds ideal

You were paying attention………
See you on the 16th 🤞🤞🤞
We’ll sort times but 10 bells start for me is good because of the travel up from mine.

10am is fine as you have a long journey. Cool, we’ll make sure you have the full Dalby experience on the 13th (November) 👍🏻

The 6th would have been out for me.

I will do my best for the 13th, family permitting. 🤞

As they’ll be less of us this time, and it’s generally quieter in Autumn / Winter, shall we meet at Seive Dale car park, which is the small one on the right hand side just past the Go Ape and main visitor centre car park ?

@The EMF - I think parking is only a fiver from November 😀
