Deer, bears, snakes, rabbits, bobcats. The best sighting was a condor while driving to the trailhead. No photo unfortunately.

Last month in the hills north of you, I spotted a bald eagle. She was zipping along pretty fast, and pretty far away, so pictures were out of the question.

This stubborn rattler was stretched out across the road this afternoon. She didn't want to move. Clearly, she had forgotten who the apex predator is.

Not as impressive as a real snake, but as I was out hiking with my wife the other day, we met this slow worm:

And also a lot of these:

Recently I’ve been asking a hiker or mtb’er if I can take a pic of just their dog. I’m slowly collecting a portfolio.

This guy “CowBoy”, hugging my knee, surprises me at least once a week by suddenly appearing at my feet.

Sleeket Collie dog , like to snap at your heels .
The owner (“Tom” in the background)is limiting his hiking due to bad knees, but “Cowboy” seeks me out, is quiet and fast. A surprising ball of fur between your legs is extremely startling when you don’t expect it…happens often. 😱

I used to meet one a very nasty bike hater . Old woman couldn't control it it went berserk when it seen me. I just stopped bike and kept bike between us so no big deal. But I thought if I had a bairn with me it would been scary for them. Not seen it for ages

We had one of those also. Owner was doing her best (each time) to get the dog used to bikes. Haven’t seen them for quite a while.

A very small dog latched onto my pant cuff once. Round and round it went until it fell off.

A pit-bull like dog (unleashed) bit my ankle and tore my glove. My hand was in the glove. The family of 4 went bananas and were very apologetic …tears, screams, shouts and fear. I was calm and only sprung two leaks…my hand and ankle. 🤷‍♂️

I saw a bear, a coyote and two deer the other day not far from my place but they didn't stick around for any pictures.

I miss having a dog though. Had a chocolate lab that was a great trail dog for years. He could hang with a large group and never get in the way and drink water from a ditch while running as well as poop on the go. Never saw him pee while running though.
