Anyone know the torque settings for the pedals and the crank?

if it’s like 40nm what are people actually using as it seems every mtb wrench only goes to 24nm

Yeah, usually about 35-50 Nm which is basically as tight as you can get it without being ridiculous. I've heard it described in actual instructions as "limit of strength". Ha ha.

I just aim for 'seriously tight' using my built in wrist based torque wrench. Never had one come loose yet.

I've sheared a crank bolt before by over tightening with a 3/8 ratchet.
I'm taking it to the shop to supply and fit a set of hope cranks next week as I don't trust myself to do it.

I have this one, but it was £47 when I bought it, not £77!

If you know anyone with a Trade Card, this is £68.

The Halfords one is the closest I’ve seen to a ‘full’ range mtb wrench….. 4-40nm would be perfect, doesn’t seem to exist! I don’t really want to end up with two torque wrenches and I’m sure one must exist with the full range, what’s the point of us using a torque wrench on part of the bike, I have tightened mine up by hand, I’m sure it’s fine but I am known for being heavier handed

One wrench that will do 4-40Nm will not exist. The point is the sensitivity.
Bolts that need 4Nm tend to be small and a bloody great torque wrench with an 15" arm on it and a 1/2" square drive is not what you want to be using.

That is an utterly ridiculous instruction. I've had instances where I had to generate just shy of 150 Nm working on car suspension under a car on jackstands. Either they assume cyclists are weakings, or only be in possession of tiny torque wrenches.
