Nothing wrong with those bikes. For me it’s had to buy “outdated” technology though. Older battery, motor, and frame design are not worth the cheaper cost for me.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea if the new shimano 630wh battery will fit

Still great bikes, the geometry is not as on trend as the latest bikes but still fine IMO. In terms of tech the reality is that out in the real world the difference between the EP8 and the E8000 is pretty incremental.

The new 630 wh battery should work, but it may depend on the frame size as for example a smaller frame might not have enough clearance between the shock and top of the bigger battery.

Thank you for the info. I would need a xl frame, I mainly do trail/xc riding, and thought the fox and rockshox addition were nicely specced.
Do you no if the frame's are good and not prone to cracking.

There have been several owners of the bikes on here - probably best to look through the Commencal threads.

I believe @Kernow had one long term.

I had a meta race for 3 years and used it quite a bit . The bikes were great value new with sorted geometry and a very good spec that would suit any level of rider .
It’s a little dated now with newer motors and designes , as you can see from the new range which is no longer particularly cheap against the tons of similar competition out there now
I think at the current discounted prices it’s still a great value bike . Especially the 29er which is what I would have chosen if they made it back then .
In a medium the cockpit felt quite short compared to other bikes so don’t err on the smaller size if your not sure .
The shimano motor is great , 3 years ago it was streets ahead and it still feels good today with a very natural feel . Battery range can be the most limiting factor I had 2 batteries but carrying a spare really isn’t the best idea , a half day ride is about its limit in winter without using higher power if you’ve got plenty of climbing or to compare with my mates who still have the shimano they running out when my bosch 625 still has 40-50% left .
5 of us bought the metas new in 2018 , the have all been good with no manufacturer faults, bearings and parts are all easy to find without having to order direct . 2 of us had faulty motors which was a bit of a pain returning to france for warranty and you need to be iether a home mechanic or prepared to pay a bike shop to do the spannering in that event .
Check out the current import costs , and delivery to uk ,etc that could be the biggest problem now .
