What a marvellous invention. Must be the biggest revelation to come to bikes since suspension!

I’ve had a dropper on my last 3 bikes over the last 8 and a half years. Various brands... and I’ve now settled on a Rockshox Reverb AXS on my Levo SL. Personally I find it to be the best I’ve used due to the ability for a micro adjust with just tapping the switch.

Anyway - the Reverb has been playing up a bit, and I took it to my LBS. They suggested it’d be covered by warranty - so I’ve had to send it to Tredz for them to deal with as that’s where I purchased. Stupidly, I sold the original dropper that came with the bike when I fitted the Reverb.
Fearing Tredz might take at least few weeks, I bought a Brand X 30.9mm post and a shim as a fill in so that I could still use the bike.

To day I went for a ride round some local trails. For a start, I probably had the saddle slightly lower than I’d usually have it - as I normally lower it when the bike is stationary.
My local trails aren’t nearly as tough as the ones I travel to, however there are a few downhill tracks.

I really missed my dropper. I ride an XL bike with quite a long reach. Trying to get my bum down low over the back of the seat gave me the fear! I was scared that a big bump would have me crashing my ‘jewels’ into the saddle! I must’ve ridden managed this without a dropper many years ago - but it just seemed so unnatural now that I’m used to riding with one.

I’ve seen people trying to make their SL lighter and swapping the dropper for a carbon post. Unless your riding fire tracks and gentle trails, I can’t see how this is practical at all?

Anyway... just an observation from today’s ride. I hope my Reverb is back and functioning 100% soon, as I really wouldn’t fancy riding with no dropper down some of the more exotic trails I visit!

I agree that its a great invention but can't say I'm a huge fan of the reverb..the Crank Bros.post that came on my Whyte has been faultless though ( admittedly still fairly early days but at least it hasn't frozen on some -c rides )

I would like my dropper to get up and down by wire. I totally understand if world is not yet ready for such a big and innovative move.
