I will be on my ebike so would like to cut out the hike a bike up nan beild.
lots of good information on this post so thought i would ask for confirmation that if i cut out the descent to Haweswater and turn left its all rideable ?
can anyone tell me at ehat point on the Lakes MTB route do i cut off ?
any advice graefully received

Skiddaw, pedal around to the yha then up to the top and drop off ullock pike.
It's as good as your gonna get.

Just a little update for anyone starting from Staveley Mill Yard ..car parking charges have recently been introduced ..cant remember how much but quite steep if you are parking there for the day ..

The Four passes is pretty brutal, did the route shown by Trail Finder on YouTube on my normal bike.

Way too much Hike a Bike for Ebikes, although one of the best routes i've ridden.

I think EMBN did a version on ebikes with Adam Brayton, although I couldnt find a GPX route for it.

Would the 4 Passes actually be harder overall on an E Bike than an analogue bike due to all the hike a bike ?

The walk mode on my bike (Levo 2020) is actually useless. I have to press the little button on the left hand side just as hard as I would have to push the bike if I was walking it.

Going off the route I did, absoloutely. They were brutal climbs, atleast 2 of them you couldnt even push the bike up, it was bike on the back type of stuff. Would not reccomend doing it alone either.

It used to be free but it now costs £10 to park there per day.
There is free carparking available nearby at Ings though - everyone is going there now.

You'd have to pay me vast amounts of money to do the four passes on an ebike. I've done it on a manual bike and the hike a bike is brutal, not sure I'd even want the weight/lack of flickability of an ebike for the first descent after honister slate mine.

That's a shame because my only analogue bike these days is a 140mm Hardtail. After buying my Levo I never thought I needed an analogue FS ever again. Would the Hardtail be unsuitable for the downhills ?

I've seen people do the Borrowdale Bash with Fleetwith Pike (600m) as an added extension, another possible high level EMTB route but I'm not sure how rideable it is​

No chance I’d do it on a 140mm hardtail but I’m sure others would but they’d be sadists who would probably ride it on a gravel bike. There’s plenty of other rides to do in lakes and just skip out on that one.

The borrowdale bash as standard with the new start variation only has one sustained push for manual bikes so perfectly doable with an e-bike. That push would still be a push but a quarter of the amount I’d have said.
