Technophobe question regarding heart monitor on Kiox.

I have been informed that I can connect my new bike's Kiox system to most bluetooth heart monitors. I bought a bt Halfords transmitter but I couldn't connect it. I contacted Bosch who gave me instructions which I followed until it said put the device in connect mode. There is nothing on the transmitter, what do I need to do?
If I have bought the wrong product can someone advise me what I need to buy.
I have an old Garmin Edge on my road bike which has a heart rate monitor but I don't think it's bluetooth so I don't think that's an option.
Any advice gratefully appreciated.

I’ve been playing the “ connect iwatch to Kiox” game since the iwatch v.4. No success. I think there are some Garmin watches that are able to connect via Bluetooth but I gave up trying with the iwatch.

I have an old HRM-run but I guess all of them are compatible. Also Polar should work. Buy one of those eventually to stay on the safe side: Which heart rate monitors can be used with Kiox? Also
So, I can't just buy a transmitter, I need to buy a complete unit?
I was hoping that I could buy a Bluetooth transmitter that would connect to my phone which is attached to my bike via Quad Lock and be able to read the hr through the Flow app.

That won’t work.

The new capability uses a heart rate monitor connected via bt to the Bosch controller on your bike which in turn displays the value on the Kiox Display.

What type of transmitte do you have, is this a chest strap or something else?

Be aware that this will only display the heart rate during the ride. There is no recording of that data. If and when that missing function will come is unclear.

I have returned it to Halfords as I couldn't get it to work, it was their own brand HRT10 and was just a chest band bluetooth transmitter.
I'm not bothered about the data being recorded like it is on my old Garmin Edge, I just want to keep an eye on my heart rate.

Just to be clear, from your initial question I assumed you have a new bike with the Bosch smart generation motor.

If that is true, the correct FAQ from Bosch is this one: Can I connect my heart rate monitor to the smart system?

If you have an older system the link from a few posts earlier is correct. In that case the heart rate monitor is directly connected to the old Kiox and the data will be recorded.

To put a heart rate strap into pairing mode all you need to do, is attach the sensor to the strap and wear it.

I bought the bike brand new this month so I presume it's the latest motor.

This is my bike on the current Cube website.
That is a smart system bike.

In this case you can use all bt heart rate monitors that use the basic technology described in this Bosch FAQ: Which heart rate monitors can I connect to my eBike?

Most heart rate straps sold and many smart watches should work.

For the smart system you will need to connect the hr monitor through the Flow app to your bike. You will have to be next to your bike, the bike turned on, Flow app on the smartphone open and connected to the bike. In Flow app go to „Settings > My eBike > eBike Pass > Components > Add new device > Other“. After the initial pairing the hr monitor will automatically connect to your bike. To actually show the heart rate on your Kiox 300 you need to add a heart rate screen to the display configuration which is also done through the Flow app.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The Kiox 300/500 for the smart system bikes have no buttons and are dumb displays without any computing capability or sensors. The Kiox for the older BES2 bikes has two buttons, is about the size of the Kiox 300 and has built in computing capability, bluetooth connectivity and local storage.

Regarding HR monitors on Kiox. I wouldn’t loose any sleep over it as all it will do is show your current hr on the kiox display (if your successful in setup) . The hr isn’t recorded as part of any ride stats for review later .

I have gone through that with the Halfords HRT10 chest strap transmitter but it didn't recognise it.
This will be me being useless with technology.
Thank you for your help and advice. 🙂

According to the info I could find from Halfords this sounds like any other bluetooth heart rate monitor. I wonder why you didn’t get it connected.

There was one review mentioning the battery not being installed at delivery.

Did you get the strap to work with any other app on your smartphone? If so it could be that the strap reconnected with that app as soon as you put it on and never checked for a new device to connect to..

I have now bought a CardioSport arm strap transmitter and with a little help from my son in law it is working.
Thanks for your input.🙂
