My wife has a Norco fluid hardtail covid buy which we are going to sell. It has the shimano E8000 display with the easy to see color graphics that we like. She will be inheriting my yt decoy which has the shimano e7000 display. Both bikes are shimano 8000 motors. We would like to swap the displays between bikes before selling without changing the indicated mileage on each bike. Has anyone done this? What is the procedure? Is it even possible??

I believe it is possible. The data is saved inside the motor, so the display will show the mileage of the motor wich its connected to. You could disconnect the displays from the handlebars and plug them to the cables of the other bike… I think it may even be possible to place the handlebars of both bikes so close that you can just unplug the cables and swap the diplays and check what happens…

Udate, the 8000 display works fine on the Decoy, but the 7000 display wont even turn on when installed on our Norco.

That's strange
When i had an E8000 i tried 4 different displays and all worked perfectly
I ended up settling on and e7000 display for the size but that's my preference still doesn't sort your issue out thou .

I have a Husky with the 5000 display and 2 bikes with the 8000. It wb nice if I could swap the 8000 off one bike to put it on my Husky with the 5000 display. I don't think it'll work though.
