Should just be a straight swap, but it does depend what frame, as some have moulded bash guards etc specific to each motor

What I experienced so far, the e7000 display will not work with e8000 Motor. Otherway round (e8000 Motor with e7000 display) is not a problem.
Mounting of the motor should be same. I have a Merida e160 (MY2019) with 7000 series motor and this bike is also available with 8000 series motor.
I'm planning same for my Sam² (MY2018) and my wifes Merida. e7000 motor seems to be more efficient, while e8000 seems more powerfull.
Good luck and report your findings.

I think you make à mistake in tour answer.
You say two time e7000 display with e8000 motor.
My Shop received thé motor yesterday so we try to mount the motor in few days.
Blauhassinger you try what kind of motor and display ?

My bike, sunn gordon S1 have an e7000 motor and e7000 display.
So i think the e8000 motor will work whithmy e7000 display.
The only problem will be the plastic part on the motor.
Maybe the fixation of the plastic shield are différents so it possible we need to modify the fixation.
Excuse my poor english, I'm à french biker.

I think normally, most manufacturers use the same guard/shield on their e7000 and e8000 bikes. It normally attaches to the frame and the e7000 fits easily within the e8000 guard. So why make two guards, it would be more expensive.

And yes, your e8000 will work with your e7000 display.

Bad news for me, shimano send to my dealer an e7000 motor so i don't buy thé second bike.
No swap for me, i stop thé project.

I don't want to make a new thread on this, but have many people done a swap from a E7000 to a Ep8 or even Ep6 etc?

I've got a Kona Remote which comes with a pretty average spec and thus I've upgraded the forks an improved the shock with a megneg. I quite like the bike but having had the e7000 replaced under warranty at 460 miles I was always going to sell on and buy a new bike when the warranty expires next year.

Now seeing people repairing the motors and potentially being able to upgrade to maybe a more powerful (I'm fine with the E7000 power) and maybe more reliable motor I was potentially thinking of just running it at least another year and if the worst happens maybe upgrading.

Du-e7000 is compatible with the following: sc-e7000, sc-e6100, sc-e5000,
Or with an adapter cable:
Sc-e5003, sc-em800

E8000 motor is happy with almost anything.
Ep8 (also ep6 and ep5) is restricted to newer displays.
E6000 series uses only sc-e6000 or 6010 display.

I'll pull compatibility chart later.
