Such a dunce! - Battery removal

HI All

A daft one really, but how the hell do you remove the battery cover??!?

Its on a Haibike Hardseven 8 with in inframe battery. Been charging the battery by plugging it in to the bike which obviously isnt an issue but thought I'd remove the battery but can I heck get the cover off.

Theres the metal thumb catch at the top of the cover, I've tried pushing the thing up with both thumbs but I cant get it to move at all. Was gonna neck some spinnach and some redbull to see if that helps......

Im tempted to take the screws out holding it place.

Bikes less than a month old....any tips ?

It's an absolute bastard to open. A mate has one of those and it gets crud stuck in there and jams shut. Yes, Red Bull and spinach are the answer.

Once you've go it off, clean it thoroughly and then after reinstallation, cover it with a bit of gaffer tape to keep the crud out of it for next time.

The idea is good. The implementation, not.

Ended up using a rubber mallet on the catch and a bit of WD40 to help loosen it up.

TBH, that's pretty much what we did. The cover isn't attached to the battery and it's an alloy frame, so it's a reasonably risk-free option.

Hello

make sure you push up on the cover as you pull the catch release. The metal is recessed around the screw so that it does work it’s way loose.

other than being a complete crap design that is extremely difficult to open, it works great!

Hi , re the Haibike hard seven battery cover ....yes it is a complete bastard to remove...my solution is take the top screw out place a thin washer behind it ...then on the steel thumb panel superglue a piece of rough sandpaper ....push lightly on the panel whilst removing ... hope this helps .

Yes very good but there wasnt a mention of needing sandpaper or a rubber mallet in the manual.

Sorted now anyways, ive changed the bike. ?
