I know, I know, neither three are eebs. However, I'm starting this thread in anticipation of the shoot of the video which will occur this weekend (hopefully). Hopefully no one minds.

I'll be upfront with you before reading further, if you're not into regular bikes (I refuse to use the words 'analog' or, 'acoustic'), this thread is not for you so I won't ask you to waste your valuable time by read further.

For those who are interested or intrigued, yes. A no holds barred (within reason) comparison between the Stumpjumper, Enduro and my newly brought Status will commence in what will probably be my best vid yet (not trying to tut my own horn but I am hyped for this).

Without giving to much away, all three will be tested in terms of climbing, descending, flow, handling over technical terrain and most importantly, consistency. Methods of reliable data acquisition will be factored. All three bikes are alloy to keep things somewhat consistent although the weight between each varies substantially.

To that end, I've just finished upgrading my Stumpy so it's no longer rocking the Fox Float DPS but something more deserving.

My Enduro remains the same as it was upgraded on my Shakedown ride (180mm Lyrik with X Fusion Manic 170mm dropper).

The status remains stock (for now). But to be fair (with the exception of the tyres), the bike's build kit is spot on.

Now I can imagine that many of you will be thinking out loud, 'Neeko, you're an idiot because we all know which bike is better'. If so, don't hesitate to let me know but the video is coming on my channel. I guarantee it.

Now, if you've read this far, here's where you guys can get involved. SERIOUSLY, PLEASE GET INVOLVED!!

1. Like most tests/head to head comparisons, there will be controlled variables (tyres, wheels, M5 alloy frames etc). However, I'm deciding which tyres. Personally, I'm more in favour of running the Specialized Butcher Grid tyres on all bikes as I don't really want to be spending a whole heap of money on tyres. But at the same time, I dont want to be scrutinised by running a particular tyre (turns out, a lot of people don't like Butcher Grid). Basically, if you feel that I should change to using different tyres (the terrain will be a combination of trail fields, sniper rocks & routes and some loose areas), please let me know.

2. I will be running roval wheels for the primary reason that the hub engagement remains the same across all three bikes (18 points). However, the drivetrains do differ. Stumpy is rocking a 10spd Shimano SLX (dont ask!!), Enduro is still rocking the Sram NX 11spd & Status is rocking the Sram NX 12spd. Although, this might delay the shoot by a day, do you think it's worth (or would you rather see) all three use the same drivetrain and gearing? I should mention, Stumpy and Enduro are both rocking 28tooth chainrings (The Enduro using a oval chainring). Status comes stock with a 32t.

3. A side comparison (although probably just as important) will be a match up between 27.5", 29" & mullet. Status is a dedicated mullet so it will remain as is. However, both Stumpy and Enduro can be ran as 27.5 or 29. Currently, Stumpy has the 27.5 wheels and Enduro has the 29 but I am noticing a growing trend of 29 trail bikes and 27.5 long travel bikes (or I could be wrong). Which would you prefer in which bike. Remember, I'm still rocking roval traverse wheelsets so the only thing which will change is the overall weight between the Stumpy and Enduro.

4. After discussing this video project with a friend (who may assist sticking with social distancing), he has put the idea in my mind that the Enduro should rock a Fox x2. Funnily enough, they are still available for a relatively good price. Would you rather have the Enduro in a penultimate configuration and run the x2 (baring in mind, all three bikes are alloy), or would the majority settle for the Rockshox Rear shock?

5. Huh!! I really, really, really, really, REALLY don't wanna be upgrading brakes at this stage. But!!, I am running Shimano Deore on Stumpy (again, dont ask), Guide R on Enduro & Codes on Status. I pray you all say no but, should I (would it be better) to introduce a third brake manufacturer or, have all three run the same brakes (I pray you guys don't say 'TRP or Magura MT7s all around). But I'm open to feedback.

And finally,

6. Data acquisition is usually the main point of contention when comparing. Whilst I myself have been quick to recognize this (although, I usually keep my opinions to myself), I imagine many viewers will not be as reluctant as myself. Strava, Garmins, Stopwatches and the same rider (myself) have been factored. However, heart rate monitors & power meters have not. Is it worth using/factoring in? (I imagine you'll all say yes but doesn't hurt to check).

And that's basically it guys and girls. Camera equipments ready to go and I'll be sure to have a good bowl of Ready Break in the morning. Believe, this is gonna be a good work out for me. But again, let me know your thoughts and believe me, I am the kind of person to take on board any advice or suggestions (or criticisms, your choice).

I'll attach images of all three bikes in morning when I've got good light on my side before I shoot off to work.

If you've read this far, god bless you and feel free to curse me out for the lengthy post ?

I await to hear from you all and as always, ride safe ?

This should be good ?
27.5 vs 29 vs Mullet
Trail vs Enduro vs Freeride
It's a pity I don't own a Demo (not yet anyway).

I never thought I'd ever say this but after doing a 30mile xc ride on my Enduro, I am seriously missing the eebs.
I guess I need to do some enduro style trails on Stumpy.

Not overly familiar with the Status, but neither the Enduro or the Stumpy look like current models. How old are they, and without wishing to be disrespectful to your upcoming video, what are you hoping to achieve by comparing previous versions of two models with (I'm assuming) a new version of the Status?

I think 2021 Status vs 2021 Enduro vs 2021 Stumpy Evo would be a very interesting comparison though.

I agree. Subject to how well the vid does, I'll look into comparing the newer variants as well as the Stumpy Evo.
For now, the similarities (alloy frames) and the differences (wheelsets, applications and components) should make for an interesting comparison.
Thanks for your reply dude ?

I'm gonna have to shoot this again. To many variables but one could argue that a mullet setup is quicker than a 29er.
