Stem question

Hi fellas, im looking to tart up my cube stereo hybrid 140, replacing the cube stem for the DMR defy camo stem and some different handlebars.

So my question is- am I able to swap out the cube stem for this stem? Or do I need to be getting a specific emtb stem? From initial look I see the stem spacers would have to stay as the internal cable routing comes through the side of them, but hoping I could be able to buy a stem that isn't emtb specific. Apologies if this seems a silly question, I'm new to the ebike scene.

The dmr should be fine. You need to see what the sizes are. Bars are generally 31.8mm and steerer tubes are usually 1 and 1/8th inch. Length between centres and any angle.
Check if your old stem has any markings to help otherwise get measuring.
Saying its for a xyz bike means feck all to most of us.
And yes I have been on the beer 🍻

Cheers fellas, the cube stem is 40mm in height, the handlebars are 31.8mm and the dmr stem is for 31.8mm, just wasn't sure if it needed a 'special' e bike stem for different tolerances. Hoping also that the fox fork ebike specific forks have the same steerer tube diameter as standard forks. Great help though thankyou, enjoy your beer whilst I'm stuck on the night shift 👎

The difference between a normal stem and an eBike stem is that the eBike stem has an eBike label on it. Take that label off and they're identical.

I have a 2022 Cube stereo hybrid 160 and will be swapping out the stem and bars when I get round to it. I have a 780 renthal ally fatbar and 35mm renthal apex stem from my previous bike, I don’t see any issues fitting those on the Cube and they aren’t e-bike specific

I am currently waiting for a Renthal stem to turn up from ebay to replace a cheap one that stripped the clamp bolts. Was looking at the dmr stem but I seem to think it was the wrong length for me.
Whilst reading reviews there was mention of cheap stems flexing when using 800mm bars?
Its not something that I have noticed with 780 bars but I arnt that good a rider to notice that anyway 😂

Thankyou all of you, great help. I'll get the stem swapped over this weekend, might even sacrifice the rental fatbar off my Scott genius and fit it on the cube. Looking forward to a ride on it Sunday. Hope everyone has a good weekend and once again cheers for all the replies.

Once fitted with the stem and bar upgrade I'll post a photo up 👌

I’ve replaced stock bars for ally Renthal bars on my last 3 mtbs. I change them because I like the flex in the bars, it absorbs some of the chatter, and it’s something I’ve got used to when pushing and pulling the front end around, and I miss it when using other bars.

I'm the same @Colin1517 i find they absorb better than others I've had in the past, I prefer the higher rise aswell at 40mm. I was thinking of trying out the burgtec ride high Josh bryceland bars with the 50mm rise

I went from a 60mm stem (Bontrager) to a 45mm stem (Bontrager also). This really helped my down hill positioning. Didn’t really have any issues while climbing.

Besides the knock-block notch built in, there was an attachment available for a light or GoPro. I also installed the OneUp carbon bar after I pretzeled 🥨 the original alloy bar. The OneUp carbon bar had a slight flex to it which had a nice feel. So I put one on the HT also.

I'm in the process of swapping out my stem and bars to PNW Gen 3 stem 40mm and PNW bars which are really good for comfort, they may be a tad heavier but I'm not worried about a few grams.
I'm also using Superstar head cup and bearing set really well made stuff.
I've also got some longer travel Lyric forks I'll be swapping out to make it a little more slacker
