Upgraded to the GX Version on a Cube TM 160 best upgrade ever just works perfect. On E-bikes for some reason I seem to change gear a lot which has been a joy since having AXS.

Yes go for a GX AXS better deals seem to come up on then and same inside the X01 is just lighter maybe different bearing but you can upgrade them when the first set wear out

Ian986 thanks, have seen those and they are cheaper than the x01 and I did presume that the x01 has better quality components which is why it id earer but if there is not that much difference will look at the gx

You may want to order the upgraded lever option as it's closer to the feel of the traditional levers, rather than just a rocker switch.

Not that much different with any of them you wonder why anyone pays the extra on an Ebike. In regard to rocker switch I almost went there especially after peoples comments. Well I am glad I tried first you don’t press the shifters like a cable set so I find it fine after all the reports I did not expect them to be ok. They work perfectly fine I’ll never own a bike with cable gears again.

Hey, Steve.
AXS shifting is nice. It won't make you a better rider, but when people see it on your bike, they'll know you're cool. I really don't care for the old-school mechanical shifting on my spare bike any more. AXS is just plain better.

The three flavors of AXS derailleurs are very similar the main difference is the cage material. Functionally, they're identical. XX1 is carbon fiber. X01 is aluminum. GX is steel. I run the steel GX derailleur cage.

A few months ago, I was on a road trip with a buddy. The first ride of the first day, a rock got kicked up and his carbon fiber XTR derailleur cage fell to pieces. Ride over. Maybe an aluminum or steel cage would have broken, as well.

Whatever model you get, you're gonna like AXS shifting.

I have both XO1 and GX AXS on bikes and the only difference is weight. Performance is identical. Don't waste your money for 200 grams. I tried the new paddle and didn't like it. But that one is just personal choice.

I run my AXS GX with Shimano xt cassette and chain works really good

Yes, although for the best shifting it's recommended to use a Shimano chain and a Sram quick link with Shimano cassettes. The other option is to change the driver body on your hub and use all Sram. Either way it should work fine.

Just to be controversial…. I have gx axs on my analogue and gx cable on my ebike, tbh I wouldn’t get axs for my ebike… I think the performance gains are not massively noticeable, and my ebike pushes me to go harder, faster and take tougher lines based on it being more endure than trail bike so if I clip a rear mech I’d rather it not be the expensive axs one also may just be me but I tend to change gear a lot more on my analogue bike than I do on the ebike …

Yes the GX AXS is really good. No maintenance, easy adjusting/ indexing.
……but carry a spare battery and the button one for the controller as well.

I’ve upgraded to the GX AXS too, a very kind present last Christmas, there’s only a few things that differentiates the two models but regardless of which one you choose it’s an awesome upgrade, nice quick quiet gear change and no cable to route through the frame

Probably a few (40km’s) rides and you can see the levels on your phone App….but you can forget to check/ charge…..
like I did !

Yeh, going for the gx version, don't think the extra money is prob worth it, even better, lbs will price match Internet price and fit for free result.

It says on the Sram website 20 hours but I’ve had 25 hours out of mine, and yes it’s sad but I did time it over seven rides

I tried AXA on @Doomanic 's KSL, it worked really well and shifts great. But as I laid the bike down on a corner, all I could think about is how much the mech would cost to replace

If you fit one keep the pivots clean and lubed.
My GX AXS wore out the pivot bores in the parallelogram in no time, causing poor shifts. Admittedly our dirt is pretty abrasive, but I've had enough mechanical derailleurs and not had an issue with those, only the AXS.

That said, SRAM swapped it under warranty without any quibble at all, and upgraded it to the X01 in the process. (Presumably because they didn't have stock of the GX).

I've been running mine for six months, and the shifter battery shows no degradation. My derailleur battery probably gets charged every 4-6 weeks, or before a multi-day trip. It wasn't until last week that I first saw the "low battery" indicator turn red on the derailleur. Usually the indicator light is green, and I'll stick the battery on the charger anyway just to be safe.

It's worth noting that if you carry your bike on a bike rack or in a van it's better to take the battery off because the movement 'wakes up' the system and drains the battery a bit, even if you're not changing gears.

And general battery hours depends on how many shifts you do, but it's plenty enough for any sort of ride.

I've read that, and it makes perfect sense. The derailleur goes into a sleep mode after sitting for a while, and turns itself on when you move the bike. The only time I've removed the battery was on a six hour road trip. For closer destinations that might be only a couple hours of driving, I don't bother removing the battery.

Yes, I have set off with the battery still in the car enough times.

X01 comes with different shifter paddle with separate triggers like regular shifter, GX is combo paddle, bit of a pain… good news is you can buy just X01 shifter paddle separately and so still saving $$.

Yeh, it's only £20 and can be self fitted. Going to try the original shifter and if I don't take to it, change it.

I have got the 'updated' paddle but it does have a habit of triggering a shift when the terrain is really rough, I assume because there's more mass behind the pivot. I didn't have any involuntary shifts with the original paddle, but that could be just coincidence.

I do wish that there was a denounce period to stop multiple shifts when it's rough too, but that is a software thing, not hardware.
