Sram brakes confused me

I like to think im quite capable with carrying out most jobs on my bikes but swapping over my Sram brakes has caused me an issue.

I currently have Guide Re brakes with 220mm rotors, i tried to fit some Code Rsc's taken from my other bike. I fitted the front brake with the washers in exactly the same position between the caliper and adapter but the rotor is nowhere near far enough into the caliper. I tried removing one set of washers but then the rotor would hit the caliper body.

I think my question is why does the guide re fit with a 20mm adapter on 220mm rotor but the Code rsc wont? Do i need a different adapter for the Codes?

Hope I've explained this well enough to understand, any help is appreciated.

Si

Ah, the good old SRAM CPS conundrum. Most modern SRAM brakes (including your Code RSC )are direct fit but the Guide RE is based on the old code calipers and use the conical washers. This guide from SRAM shows how to tell the calipers apart and what spacers you need for different mounts and rotor sizes.

Thanks very much for your help and the guide?
