Specialized or YT?

I know we busy making comparisons at the moment but the YT is barely on the shop floor at the moment.
What would you choose if a month from now Spez shops were offering 20% off 2019 levo’s????

Apparently there are no S-Works available for the rest of 2019.

September for the Expert too.
Sorry can’t comment for your country but where I am almost every concept store has at least 1 if not more on the floor and they don’t seem to be moving.
Almost as if concept stores are “forced” to carry s works.

I’m 5’11 and ride a large YT Jeffsy, it’s not the longest bike, and is maybe a little cramped. As it’s a trail bike I’m happy with my decision, but for the Decoy I’m going to try the XL at their demo day to make sure I get it right. I’m still thinking large will be best.
The reach on my Lapierre Spicy is 455mm which is the same as the large Decoy so looks like it would be ok.?

It seems to me that there are Levo's in stock at less well known bike shops, and a lot of smaller dealers - e.g my local shop Finch's in Reigate has an L Comp and an L Carbon Comp sitting on the shop floor ready to go

Possibly because people are;
1. Unwilling to pay full price and
2. Reluctant to buy from bike shops without the reputation of places like Berkshire Cycles.

This is true lots of dealers refusing any discount, so customer buys from the store that does.

Same day service for a motor change at Berkshire Cycles. You just need to make a courtesy call to tell them when you are coming and take your original receipt with you.

Why the heck does Specialized even need a dealer offering this type of service, do the Levo motors go wrong that often?

All I know is that I am NOT buying another new ebike of any make until they figure out the drivetrain on these bikes. chains of this size and rear cassettes just don’t last.

Is it really that bad?

Thinking of buying my first eBike and it’s a bit of a shitter to hear this. To be fair I’m thinking my ebike will be my fair weather bike and I’ll be riding my trail bike through the winter.

No it isn't.
Any mountain bike has fair wear on those components. Emtb slightly worse but that's down to extra torque and I guess bad gear change under pressure. I'm guilty of that too, but that's the neture of the sport.
It's like saying, I'm not buying another car until they figure out the brake wear on those cars!

Don't let that kind of comments put you off (y)

Totally agree with @pgtips - watch this forum ride vid, aint no weather worse than that! Also here's my Vitus looking at its best, put about 600 miles on it since Christmas, no issues other that a slipped chain device. Regular maintenance and cleaning is a must, as with any other bike.:

They are RRP - The rear guard is designed to protect the bike linkages etc, not the rider

I've changed my routine on ebikes.
I now just run everything till failure and then change the whole lot together.
I'm finding this is a less hassle and less cost way of running an ebike.
I've now covered around 2000miles on the same cassette and it runs sweet and still changes crisply.
If I was to measure the chain stretch it would be off the charts, but it works perfectly.
When it starts skipping or grinding I'll change the chain, cassette, and chain ring together for about £140. I estimate I should only have to do this about once a year.

£140 a year is not bad for such a great sport really is it?
I hate to think how much I spend per year on other sports I was involved previously!!!
Mountainbiking is actually cheap if you take out the price of the bike as most of the trails are free or dirt cheap for a whole day ride in a bike park.

What if you live absolutely no where near Berkshire cycles?? What relevance would that comment make to me?

For the price of the Levo compared to the YT I would want the replacement motor hand delivered by their CEO.

For your info, I don’t live anywhere near Berkshire cycles, I actually live 4 hours away (depending on traffic) so it is an 8 hour round trip for me.
However, the service is so good I am happy to make this journey.
I just give them a courtesy call to let them know what the issue is and they go through all the fault finding scenario questions first and if they can’t resolve the issue over the phone they have always said come up tomorrow and we will sort it out for you. Which is exactly what they do.
If you are further than 4 hours away from them it is still worth the trip as they will fix your issue quickly and you will be back up and running.
If you don’t mind waiting days or weeks that is your choice and please feel free to ignore me.

I live 233 miles from Berkshire Cycles which is a 4 hour drive and I have a Levo on order for my wife Linda from them and I know it is a long way but I know when it is built up and set up it will be done properly and for me that is all worth it I just hope we get it soon as I think it's imminent :)

But you will pay for it , specialised are charging labour for warranty , that’s only part warranty in my book . Give me the mail order any day or a huge choice of shimano dealers . The fact people are traveling to one dealer , ie Berkshire cycles and paying for thier warranty isn’t really a great advert for all the other dealers out there .
A lot also depends on how much of your own spanering you able to do

Not sure where you are coming from with your comments.
I have never paid for any warranty work on my Levo, apart from fuel and my time.
I also do my own spannering but you cannot spanner a fault battery, a faulty motor, a faulty speed sensor, a faulty power cable or a faulty TCU. For these things a shop visit is required for me.
It is 100% your choice if you wish to go down the mail order route.
For me, I want to ride my bike as much as I can with the least amount of downtime, I can do this using my warranty at Berkshire cycles.

A number here have said they have been charged labour on warranty work , Iam only going on what I’ve heard or read here . Most bike shops will charge labour if you didn’t buy from them
