Hello there.

I have a Cube Cross Hybrid One 500, a Gen 3 motor, and I want to change my chainring. Mostly for learning to be my own bike mechanic as much as possible.
If I'm understanding pictures correctly, I can't mount a gen 4 chainring on a gen 3?

I can't find gen 3 chainrings on websites in my own country, so I will probably have to buy them from another. This leads to my question of supply for this. Will it be discontinued at some point, now that gen 4 is here? Are there any alternative chainrings?

I hope you can help me out :)

Best regards.

I found it! I had to search for "KMC Bosch Gen3" before it showed up. The KMC made the difference, for some reason.

Technically you've actually got a Gen 2 Performance CX, there was no Gen 3, but to answer your question; no, you can't use a Gen 4 chainring on your bike.

Why does it say Generation 3 in my specs then?

The link you show there is unfortunately nowhere near my chainring. Mine is a 5 bolt 38T. Although I do see that the gen 2 chainrings are pretty small and does not resemble mine at all.

I have contacted Bosch to see if they can help, because I have no idea how to change my chainring now at all. A spare one must exist somewhere.

Looking at the spec of your bike the crankset is FSA Metropolis Comfort 38t, so the chainwheel is also FSA. The chainwheel "5 bolts" attach a chain guard which is actually optional. The chainwheel itself is direct mount not bolt on. Your motor is Bosch Gen 3 Active Plus. So those details are what you need

I tried to google the crankset, but it didn't give me any results, or at least some that were clear enough for me. Apparently the chainring is not FSA, but KMC, which is quite confusing.

I've ordered a KMC chainring specifically for Bosch Gen 3 so I really hope that fits, because I can't find anything related to FSA at all.

Getting started with bike parts as a complete noob is pretty difficult, I must admit.

And doesn't deliver to my country :/ but thanks for the effort.
I just wanted to let you know that FSA has a bunch of Gen3 parts available. My Synapse NEO SE came with an offset "Boost CL 53mm" spider for 104 chainrings. The 44T stock seems to be the biggest I can fit on my bike but I ordered a 46T cheap one from amazon, branded as "Deckas" and it's not nearly as high quality but I just want to see if it works. Good luck finding a LBS that can work with FSA to get you what you need. I know for certain FSA has lots of parts.
