So I have to admit that....

Well between Robs brilliant vids and my mates incessant offers of riding his turbo levo I have taken the plunge...

I have just ordered a Jam2 6.7 2020 with the 625 battery..

Coming from my santa cruz blur lt.... I have to say I am pretty excited...

I guess I just wanted to say hi...

Thanks guys....

Although it's now 14th May and my bikes still not arrived, starting to get a bit narked as I had the confirmation of shipping from the bike shop on Tuesday but TNT have said it's not with them....

I'm sure all will be OK but this is the 3rd E-Bike I have ordered from this company over the last month... Previous two were advertised but not actually in the warehouse......

Fingers crossed it arrives soon , just to note if you’re bike comes with Maxxis Rekons , definitely go tubeless ( don’t make my initial over excited first rides , bloody punctures ?) the Rekons seem quite fragile at low pressures .

Thanks for the advice Gee...

I have never used the tubeless system; what do you take out with you in case of punctures etc?

Generally a small pump attached to the bike and a tubeless tyre repair kit , check out the likes of Muc - off , their tubeless kits and sealants seem good , I’ve had no complaints.

The Rekons will be great in the dry weather we are having right now. They set up tubeless very well. But they lack grip for when conditions get a bit slippy. I have just refitted the Rekons and they performed very well last week on a mix of tarmac, towpath and bridleway. Today on my usual trail they were also good, so I'll be leaving them on until early Autumn.

Thanks Steve,

I am looking forward to trying them on the trails...

Although after 3 days of emails with TNT, it now looks like it won't arrive until Monday...

I can't complain as these guys are under so much pressure and doing such a great job; but I was so looking forward to getting out this weekend...

There are several long threads on best tyres for whatever riding activity you wish to pursue. I became unhappy with the grip of the Rekons in slippy conditions, in that I could not drive out of a deep bomb hole without loads of wheel slip. Cornering was a bit of a lottery.
After a good hunt around, the Maxxis DHR and DHF were recommended by quite a few, but so were the High Rolller II and I had favourable experience of the HRII. I was looking for a triple compound (3C) for the front and a 2C for the rear; at the time I didn't want a 1C on the rear because I was concerned that maybe there wouldn't be enough grip. Eventually I bought two 3C tyres.

I replaced the Maxxis Rekon 29x2.6" 3C EXO Maxx Terra TR, (1C on the rear)
with 29x2.5" Maxxis High Roller II 3C WT Maxx Terra EXO TR (same on the rear)

The difference in grip was amazing. The rear was like a tractor tyre in that I just rode straight out of those bomb holes that had been giving me trouble.

I was a bit concerned about having both tyres the same because I prefer to have the rear a bit less grippy than the front. But so far I have had zero problems with the front sliding away before the rear. Despite that, the replacement rear tyre will be a 1C because the 3C is just a bit too grippy for the rear and it is absorbing too much energy.

Hi Steve , sorry to bother you. I’m thinking of sticking a High Roller 2 on the rear , as I mentioned can’t get on with the Rekon . Any adverse affect on battery duration? Already stuck on Minion up front and loving the grip . Cheers . Meant to say mine are 2.8

@Gee tomac No bother at all.

I have the 3C HR II on the back which it turns out was not the best call when I have the same on the front as well. The tyre is fantastic, but too grippy. I have no verifiable figures for you on by how much it affects range. But as I said in another thread, when I replaced front and rear with the Rekons, I was averaging 1-2 mph faster on a bit of trail I know well. So the Rekons are less draggy than the HR II, but that is what they are designed to be!

How about this as a suggestion? Fit a Maxxis HR II, but consider a single compound and also how about going a bit narrower? I went from 2.6" on the Rekons to 2.5" on the HR II. A small change I grant you, but I could not tell the difference on the trail in terms of ride smoothness, only in grip. Remember, it was only a very few years ago that 2.4" tyres were considered very big tyres. So how about a HR II in 2.5" single compound Maxx Terra?

Cheers for the advise , I did consider maybe dropping down in width to 2.6 wt , but read so many conflicting reviews on narrower tyres on a 40mm internal width rim. Only one way to find out , is take the plunge , I definitely want more grip on the rear .
Again once again thank you , I’ve only been a member or the forum a short while and it seems from reading different threads , you are the oracle of biking ?
