Size help orbea rise m10 lt

Hi!

Okay, I know this is a common question that comes up often, but sometimes you just want to feel like you’re making the right choice…

I’m buying an Orbea Rise M10 Lt tomorrow. I’m torn between sizes M and L.

181.5 cm, 87 kg, 85 cm RAD. Normal arms, legs, and torso.

I enjoy technical trails that are occasionally tight, but at the same time, I also like some speed now and then. I’m a bit more downhill-oriented but mostly ride in the woods, with pure downhill maybe once a month.

What worries me is that L feels cumbersome and that M might be too small.

Is it safe to go for an M?

I am 182 cm and 88 kilos so we could be twins! I ride a large but a 2022 Rise. I would not want to go smaller. Personally the Large Rise fits me like a glove.

Same height, large.prefer smaller bikes usually but I'm happy with Large.

Seeing the new geometry numbers (Geometry Geek) vs the old, the M is still short sitting down, steep ST angle and short top tube. Ridden the old M, it was a bit short for me too. I’m 172/81cm. I would say it’s easy L for you because you like to go fast. Chainstays are also shorter on the 2025 and it makes it more nimble.

I have a 2022 m10 rise I'm 178cm I feel maybe I should of gone for a medium but you I think you should get a large

I'm about 172cm and the 2023 Rise M20 size M feels like a good fit. I don't know if the new Rise LT is more stretched out but at least on the 2023 sizes you'd definitely want a large.

I have the M10 LT in large. 178cm. Feels fine. Go with the large.

I'm about 172cm and the 2023 Rise M20 size M feels like a good fit. I don't know if the new Rise LT is more stretched out but at least on the 2023 sizes you'd definitely want a large.

Did some more thinking, the 2025 frame is longer but shorter in the back so climbing might be harder on tighter trails on larger sizes. Have to put the weight on front tyre more. When going down fast, it should be a lot better than the 2024. For flatter trails I’d buy the older one on a steep discount. Orbeas sizes run smaller than many others.

Hi! I profit this post for my own same doubt. In my case I go for a 2025 Rise Sl M10.

My data:
- Height: 178cm
- Leg: 81/82cm
- Saddle height on my current H15: 72cm

Now I ride a Rise H15 2022 in L size. Good and fair enough by now, but always had something in my mind telling the bike felt a bit large form me. Not physycal issues. It's just psychological.

I love to do scenic routes through the mountains, almost always on wide tracks and some easy trails. I never do complicated or technical descents (I'd rather go on foot)

Question: M or L for the new Rise?

Any with knowledge in geommetrics and/or biomechanics?

EDIT: Something to take into account with previous rise vs 2025 model.

With the 2025 model Orbea changed the size chart.
2025 is a new model a new geometry.

In previous models (up to 2024) range was as follows:
M - 160cm / 175cm
L - 170cm / 185cm

On 2025 model size range as follows:
M - 160cm / 180cm
L - 170cm / 190cm

That's why, I took an L on 2022 model. But I'm unsure with the new 2025.

490 reach on an L is fairly long... For example my Trek Fuel is 475 for a Large, most other manufacturers are 470-480 for a large, but there are outliers with the LLS bikes, so my Status was 493, it didn't feel ridiculously long, but deffo i'm happier with a shorter reach.
I've actually moved recently to a Fuel in an ML (i'm 6'0 or was... i may be 5'11 lol)... It's only a 460 reach and i absolutely LOVE it... but some like longer/bigger bikes, some like smaller. I've always been happier on a smaller bike.
