@R120 ?‍♂️ That’s pretty poor form from them. If it is a joke, it’s a bad one. I feel like whoever is answering emails for them has no interest in their own product range if they don’t even know what manufacturer they are using for motors.

Actually I have had a fair bit of communication with them over the past year and they have always been super helpful - my experience of their customer service is really good - I think he was trying to be helpful and see if there was a product out there that might work, becuse the motor guard on the E-Sommet has specific fixings that won't work on the sentier.

A question regarding batteries...
I have an E Sommet with the 8000 series battery. Would the 6000 or 7000 batteries also fit?

Thanks in advance

Stan, I have asked this question a couple of times but got no answer. as far as I know the 7000 motor comes with the 8010 battery anyway but I was thinking of a 6000 as an emergency spare as they cost a lot less than the 8010 - £330ish as opposed to £550ish

As far as I am aware the 6000 series it a totally different connection

Can anyone who has already done so confirm which adapter I’ll need to spec the disc down to 180mm out back? It’s taken me a few rides to admit it but the stock disc is overkill and a bit ‘grabby’

I would try some different pads perhaps , organic , or Kevlar pads can have a much more progressive feel , at a fiver or so a set it’s not an expensive trial , and you’ll use them anyway

Yeah I get where you are coming from. I already have spare 180 discs knocking about though so it’s an inexpensive swap. I think others on here have suffered with judder on the hardtail with a 200 on the back. Also it looks ugly with the worlds largest adapter ?

I swapped from a 200mm to 180mm on the hardtail, the force exerted but the 200mm on the mount was causing resonance in the frame.

On my Sommett there is no way I would go down from 200mm at the rear.

I ride the hardtail pretty aggressively, and you notice the fade and drop off in braking performance with the 180mm rotor on the back, it definitely starts to get spongey after a long hard downhill, which you don't get with the 200mm on the Sommett.

@R120 that’s the same issue I’m having. The hardtail is only really being used for XC and family rides so I don’t think the drop off in performance will concern me. What mount adapter do I need? It’s a minefield out there!

Good question - I got the parts through LBS so let them order it - I will check on the bike and get back to you

This is the mount my LBS used for 180mm discs on the E-Sentier

I don't know or think it makes any difference but I am running Shimano XT 180mm rotors, not SRAM ones. The reason for this is when I had the issue, the LBS and me where working though solutions and they had a set in the shop, so we threw them on to see if it made a difference, and they worked fine so I never bothered getting the SRAM disc. I don't think using the Shimano rotor had any bearing on the noise being eliminated.

Ok good to know. The 180s I have spare are shimano not sram anyway, although I’m not sure whether XT. I think it’s worth a try for the price of an adapter mount.

I need to drop the motor from my Sommett to check it out, but haven't had time. Pretty sure they mount to the frame rather than the motor.

They are in Shropshire

Unit 2, Weirbrook House, Nr West Felton, Shropshire, SY11 4ES

Bit of an update on this, not sure if you already got sorted? Rockguardz have made one for the full suss and they sent me one to see if it fits the sentier and it does! ?

I’ve put an extra piece of Velcro on the inside to make up for no threads in the frame for the bolts to pick up and it feels robust

So here's my new Vitus e-Sommet VR Small which arrived a few weeks back now. I'm very impressed with the bike and excellent value for money also! I don't believe you can get another e-bike of this spec and geometry for the money.

It needed a few tweaks out of the box, mainly getting the dropper sorted, dropper cable shortened, cockpit adjustments, cable tidying, brake bleed etc....

I also went straight for the tubeless conversion which was pretty straightforward.

Upgrades:

Ergon ge1 factory grips- Black
DMR V12 Mag- Black
AMS Frame Protection and Fork Protection

Other than that it's stock and I'm very happy with the build. May go for a XT shifter in the long run and a new dropper remote for a cleaner cockpit and smoother action on both sets of levers but they aren't really needed at the moment and I want to see how the stock components perform.

It's had a couple of rides now at both Cannock and Swinley and loving how it rides and getting used to the bike now.

Hope to be able to join a forum ride at some point this summer, so hopefully meet some of you there!

Now after seeing it without the red, I want to remove the red too.
What vinyl did you use to cover the red powder coating and where do I get it?

Any exterior rated gloss black vinyl off eBay should do. Cut a paper template, clean the frame with isopropyl alcohol, wash hands to remove grease and use a tub of soapy water to dip the vinyl in, then you can slide it into position and then use a hair dryer to dry it in place whilst simultaneously pushing out any air bubbles
