Ordered the X2 and Fox 38.

38s due tomorrow.

X2 due mid feb and will be tuned by J-Tech before dispatch.

Should i get the 38s Tuned too before fitting them?

Ive never had a fork or shock tuned so its a little new to me and unsure if its worth the cost?

Or should i just get both from factory without tuning?

Don't pay extra for it, it's easy enough. There is a thread on here that contains all you need to know.

Read the first post of the suspension set up sticky topic at the top of the general EMTB forum.

Depends what James (J-Tech) means by "tuned"
What @steve_sordy is talking about is set-up. not custom tuning.
Custom tuning is not "easy enough" and takes a suspension technician with a lot of knowledge to perform the relevant modifications to compression and rebound shim stacks, valving etc.
"tuning" can IME be a bit of a waste of time if the rider doesn't really know exactly what they want that tuning to achieve.

If you can be bothered to watch this (from about halfway through) you'll get an idea of the differences in various Fox dampers range of damping.

If the video just confuses you, simply watch it with the sound off and marvel at all the little internal parts Mr Sordy thinks are "easy enough" to tune ;)

Tuned as in not setup but a custom tune.

I have opted for no tune, i dont want to send the 38s off when they arrive and wait extra for the X2. So going stock then when they need serviced i'll get them custom tuned too :)

It does make sense to have ridden the thing and found out what traits you do like and what you don't before having it custom tuned

That was my thinking to. its going to be a totally differnt fork and the bike will handle different too. Want to understand it first before changing the characteristics of the fork :)

Yes custom tune is worth it, if your at the top of the weight range like i am you'll be right on the limits of the damping. I get mine done at the First service when I know how it rides.
