Shipping The Battery

Has anyone shipped one of the Fazua batteries from Canada to the US before and would share how much it cost and what hoops you had to jump through. I'm considering a Bentonville trip in the spring and am wondering if it will be cost effective to ship the battery before the trip and fly with the bike or to just rent a bike while I am there. It seems like it might be quite a chore to organize the battery shipping.

Haven't done it in North America but in Australia it is quite doable west coast to east coast was about $250 AUD return, probably less than 2 days rental.

Does anyone know any shops in Bentonville that might rent one?
I don't think you'll have much luck with renting one. I mean, I went to Bellingham and Transition's HQ didn't have any to rent.

I have a friend who just packages the battery up very well, prints a label from FedEx.com and drops the labeled package at a FedEx drop location. Gets sent every time. Include a return label with your batteries so you have it to send back.

Bentonville does have a Transition dealer but I sincerely doubt they have any batteries to rent. Bentonville isn't so much about the lightweight bikes. They are more about the full power bikes there. I don't know their name though, sorry.

Is your friend shipping the battery within the US or across the border?

So far, just within the US.

I'm not sure how a border crossing would affect things. As long as you declare what the package contents are, I don't see how it would change much. I think FedEx has a "dangerous goods" declaration or something like that. My friend hasn't used that, he just ships it like normal.

Probably easier to rent, but Bentonville is known for garbage bike rentals. Especially bikes since they don't seem to have any shops with mechanics who know how to repair and maintain them. If you're going to rent, call all the places and talk to them directly pick which one you think is best and express your concerns for getting a quality bike in good condition and reserver it long in advance. Then follow up with them about 2 weeks before your trip. Hopefully that will net you a decent bike.

Getting it across the border is the problem. I can ship within Canada no problem by just adding a sticker on the side of the box. To get it to the US though I got a quote from Fedex for $371 one way. UPS and Purolator said they don't do lithium batteries >100wh across the border at all. Thanks in the heads up about bike rentals though.

That's a bummer, but good to know.
