When I click on the link nothing shows up. Does anyone know how to take off the E8000 spider that the chain ring mounts on? I want to split the case and replace the bearings.

Yes you need the correct tool, there is an expensive Shimano one, and cheaper Park Tool - bear in mind you will ned a wrench that fits the tool too!
