Shimano E8000 Chainring

Hi,

I have a Mondraker e-bike (2018) which has an E8000 motor on it, I am wanting to change the chainring on the front but not sure on exactly what is needed, can just the 'outer' ring be replaced or do I a direct mount style, here is a link to the two I am looking at:

The first one (without attached spider) is the one I'd go for. Check out different makes though as prices vary considerably - I've just bought a Race Face for sub £30. Just bear in mind, depending on how easy it is to remove the chainring/spider bolts, you might need to remove the cranks and spider locking ring to release the whole assembly and that requires a lock ring removal tool - nothing's easy!

From what I remember most 104 BCD chainrings will fit. You only need the outer part. You might have to take a pedal off to slide the old one off/new one on.

If you increase in size, make sure there's space and it won't hit the rear triangle and that your chainguide has enough space to move further up.
