Shifter cable replacement on Canyon Spectral:ON (2019)

Hi folks,

Hope you're all well!

I need to replace the shifter cable on my SpectralOn (2019) the one with an external battery. Its got an Sram Eagle NX system.

Questions is do I have to replace the outer cable too? or can i use it still and just route the internal cable? Seems like extra hassle to replace the outer cable when it doesn't need doing.

Hope one of you guys have done this before!

Normally not. I had no Problems doing it like that. Just when the shifting is still not good it may need to be changed. Try without and when it works fine, all good. ;-)

try replacing the inner first, when you have the cable out spray some WD40 down the outer to clean out any gunk. Should be good for 2-3 inners per outer in my experience

Cheers guys. I managed to get the new cable into the existing outer cable which was pretty easy. One more thing I’ve learnt about bike maintenance ?
