This is another post on the horrors I'm having:
  • Reinstalled etube to revert to 3.4.3 version with 4.7.1 FW as 3.4.4. had a bug and 3.4.5. is supposedly on its way
  • For the life of me I cannot get my android DTEK50 mobile to pair with SCE8000 as it keeps saying I can't connect due to incorrect PIN or Password go back to settings in bluetooth, all worked perfectly previously.
  • I have tried the following passkeys: 0000, 1234, 000000,123456 all don't connect and I get that incorrect bollocks again.
  • Reinstalled etube several times with 3.4.3
  • Removed battery numerous times for clean pairing all to no avail.
  • I have either changed the passkey of which I have no knowledge or when it was or how it could have been done.
  • Anyone out there with any solutions as to why this is occurring
  • Insanity beckons and any helpful advicewould be greatly appreciated before I smash the damn thing to bits.
  • Don't know whether using a PCME 1/2 would work

I believe you need a laptop, the shimano software* & the correct cable to connect to the bike, in order to reset the pin. Otherwise any local shimano dealer, with the setup, would be able to do it for you

*there maybe more to that..

Ps have you tried pairing with another device, other than your phone, just to rule that out?

But do you have another device you could try pairing with your bike, a tablet or your partners phone, it only to test connectivity. I had issues connecting with my Android work phone but my iPhone worked, so worth a shot

Tried pairing a hundred different ways, When going to pair through bluetooth it recognises the shimano computer which is SCE-8000 on pressing for go ahead it always asks for pin but won't connect with the ones I put in as it states due to incorrect pin/password so it is definitely something that has gone on in the passkey/pin function. I went to a shimano dealer today and a tech is going to look at it tomorrow, he thinks he might know what it is. I'm usually pretty good at this stuff but I think it may be a case of laptop, shimano software and a reset, all the hardware I don't have. Quite pissed off. I'll post and let you know what the shimano tech guys says or does.

Update went to a tech about my above problem today...what an ass. Now this is Evans bike shop I'm talking about, I'll keep it brief...he says he couldn't touch it because reputedly someone said they had a peartune tuning device (who I wonder ?) once installed which is currently now not installed and that because of this and the bike was not purchased from Evans he could not touch it. I said to him, what if you were not informed of any ebike tuning and just asked to run a diagnostic, he said no, not company policy....what a complete utter ass. Whatever happened to the support and comradery of the biking community. I'd help anyone if I could regardless. Could have knocked the guy out as he was being a real tool but I just said ok and walked away. If anyone on here has anything to do with Evans I hope your are all not like him. Back to square one with my pairing issue.

I had similar issues but on an iPhone with IOS. Turned out all I needed to do was to clear the Bluetooth pairing history and then the next time I tried to pair it all worked first time....
I'm using Blackberry Android DTEK 50. Told bluetooth to "forget" pairing settings loads of times but still get the message "incorrect pin/password" go to bluetooth settings and pair device again why I try to re-pair. It is a nut buster.

I had the exact same Bluetooth pairing / "incorrect password" issue last year, and bit the proverbial bullet by purchasing the hardwired SM-PCE1 device. It worked! I never went back to the eTube phone app, and have only done updates and customizations via the device ever since.

I went to a shimano dealer i.e. Evans Cycles and they were real assholes about it because I didn't purchase the bike from them and I said in the spirit of friendship that there had once had been a peartune device fitted which was removed months ago and had never effected the bike previously. I blamed change in the shimano etube version from 3.4.4. (had a bug) back to 3.4.3 and he said that it could be a cause but refused to run a diagnostic.

I thought about getting one...do you need to purchase another cable to go from the unit to laptop.

@kendo if you've tried other devices to pair with the bike it's unlikely to be the phone, but maybe Forgetting it and clearing data might be worth a shot?

Update: After many, many, many numerous attempts and I mean many... I have finally managed to pair my android to etube SCE 8000. I continually cleared/forgot pairing settings in bluetooth settings restrting phone and removing bike battery. Finally one time when asked for pin/passkey I made a new eight digit one up 19751960 and it finally installed and this was done on the "bluetooth le" passkey, this after trying all conceivable passwords given elsewhere. I'm not sure how this has worked I just kept at it clearing and re-installing. I think the easiest way to resolve such a problem would be to get access to a Shimano SMPCE 1/2 where you can link to laptop and reinitialise pin password through etube laptop software. I posted elsewhere that I did seek help from a LBS Evans bikeshop and the guy there was being a real tosser about it and refused to help even although he said he could using a SMPCE 1 but because I had used a peartune device previously he wouldn't touch it. I did then organise help from an ebike specialist "Love-ebikes Scotland, Glasgow" who were very helpful and had no problem running a diagnostic but now I won't need it.

My SM-PCE1 came with the necessary connectors, so I assume they all do but you might want to check with the seller. I looked to see if Worldwide Cycles, where I got mine, still had them but they and every other US seller I could find listing it is currently "out of stock." I have to wonder if bike dealers campaigned against consumer access ?
