Not exactly elegant or portable though is it? I can only assume that is a prototype; unless it folds/dissembles to become a lot smaller for transport I’m not seeing any real advantage over an axle stand.

Actually there are a fair few versions of these on the market, lot of people use them for pit works at race events. I know Rockguardz do one, most seem to be Shimano specific:
