Sam2 Van Progressive Coil

Got a 2022 Sam2 6.9 with a Fox Van Performance Coil rear shock. Thinking of going down a progressive spring line and have been doing a bit of research and have come up with the following. Cane Creek 450-550lb x 65mm, looks around right as the standard shock came with a 450lb spring.

Wondering if anyone else has been down this road or would like to chip in with the 20 cents worth please

I guess if you have a coil shock on your bike but want more of the progressive performance of an air shock , then this is an option. It lacks the adjustability of a ir shock however and progression only starts at about 50% of travel. It might be advisable to get some advice from a suspension specialist beofee you commit however because if you merely match the new progressive spring to the linear rating of your existing spring you may never get full travel of the shock.

Thanks for the thoughts Mike, will definitely do some more research with mates and on line before taking the plunge. I'm pretty happy with the overall performance of the shock, just looking for a bit more small hit compliance.

Well a progressive coil spring with the same 1st 50% rating as your existing spring should make no difference to the initial part of the stroke. You may be better trying a lighter rated spring and/or getting the shock serviced.
