Leaning towards making my first new bike purchase in 11 years. Been off the bike for longer than I like to admit. Mostly mountain biking in the past , which I absolutely love. Hoping to jumpstart my old ass back into the woods and have some fun and get back into riding. At 67 years young I'm way out of shape. Looking for people's experiences with the RM Altitude Powerplay. Pros and cons. My local bike shop has one. Been trying to justify the expense. I'm sold on an emtb, just not sure this is the best one. Any input is appreciated.

Welcome to the site
Your type of mountain biking will help you choose your type of mountain bike as well
Cross country ,all mountain , DH ,Bike parks which have a bit of every thing the choices of bikes are vast these days if you can narrow it down a bit with a discipline it would help
Also what local`ish bike shops do you have as you may well need them if warranty work is required (y)

Thank you. I'm leaning towards all mountain. I love hard technical climbs and of course fast down hills. That being said, I need to keep it real and get home in one piece.

Thank you, that's encouraging. I was concerned that maybe I was over doing it with the RM enduro bike. The rough stuff is where the real fun is !

new member here & new to EMTB as well... I went w/ RM Alt. PP 50 alloy
mainly for the powerful motor.
I'm currently in my 6th months owning it. i feel like I need another 6 months
to build up more MTB skills before I'm able to harness this bike's max power output and potential.
IMO, this bike rewards a skilled biker. I know it's being lost on me, but i don't regret buying it b/c it's forcing me to get with the program.

Jedd, welcome aboard ! I think the value you get from such a capable bike is not lost on you.Your riding skills will improve over time. Just getting out there and learning how to handle the trail is super important. Have fun !!

Bought a RM Altitude new in 2022. Absolutely love it. Gets me places I wouldn’t be able to go anymore with my bad knees. Keeps me out on the trails longer too. After a few upgrades that I needed to do it is perfect. Well almost. One more upgrade soon to be taken care of but you will not be disappointed. Take it for a test ride if they will let you. RM has demo days too where they bring their new fleet of bikes around and let people trail test them. That’s what sold me.

That's great feedback, I have a set of those bad knees too. I am able to do the test ride. I'm going to set that up asap. Get my shop to set the suspension for my 230 lbs. Charge it up and give it a proper test. I'm curious, what upgrades you have done ? Thanks for weighing in.

Brakes was the first thing. Went to 220mm rotors. Huge gain in braking. Blew the seals out of the rear shock, sent back to Fox. Blew it out again. Fox swapped it out with a coil shock. Much better ride. I highly recommend doing the same. Longer dropper post. The next one is going to be a wheel set. I’m feeling the ones that came with the bike flexing and have been having to true the wheels and tighten up spokes more often than I should.

Bike I'm looking at is a coil shock setup already. I'm not sure what the stock spring capacity is. Might have to upgrade that. I'm curious about the stock dropper post, is it not adjustable enough ? Guess I have to keep an eye on the wheels. Thanks.

The dropper will most likely be fine. My bike came with the Float shock and got rid of it for the DHX2 coil
