Hi all,
Has anyone tried the new Rockshox Vivid shock on a Gen 4 Rail? A mate has just installed one on his Levo and loves it. What stroke length and tune would you go for?
Cheers

Carbon or aluminum Rail? I have a Vivid R2C coil on a Nomad, and it and the air version seem to have a decently large piggyback which can be a problem on some Rails.

Should fit no problems on 750wh battery rail. As for sizes 230x57.5 is factory so you can potentially overstroke to 230x60 and even possibly a 230x62.5

Cool thanks, I haven't seen much written about changing rear shocks on the Gen 4 Rail. I would hope 62.5 is possible given the eye to eye is the same and there seems to be plenty of clearance for a larger piggy back. There are a bunch of tunes available so I was hoping someone had already done the homework there. Levo gets a tune from Rockshox, I would have thought a popular bike like the Rail would get a tune too, but I suspect the Rail would work pretty well with a 'standard' tune due to its pretty simple kinematics and middle of the road leverage ratio. Leverage on the Levo is quite different.

I 3D printed a very close approximation of a vivid 230x57.5 and it doesn’t come close to fitting on a 2022 medium 9.7 rail. The piggyback makes contact when you compress. The trunnion mount with an adapter might be possible as it will raise up the piggy back but I haven’t gotten around to modeling and testing that yet.

62.5 on my Gen 4 Large, delighted with it so far. I'm told 65 will fit on the same frame too.

Anyone have knowledge if this will fit a Medium Gen 4 Rail (carbon)? Just got a smoking deal on a 9.7 and rear shock is the first thing I am changing.

I am specifically interested in 230x62.5

625wh battery correct? If so no surpises... 750wh frames (gen 3 and 4) have much more room for the piggyback

Hi there, does anybody tried to fit Vivid 230x62,5 to previous L-size frame? I have 2021 625Wh Rail 5 Large size and would like to swap my Fox DPX2 (230x62,5) to Vivid in the same dimension. Thank you in advance.

Just fit a Vivid 230x60 to my Rail 5 Gen 3 Large frame , it's almost touching the seat tube at rest but luckily the shock pivots forward under compression. The removable hexkey wont fit in the rebound adjuster so i'll have to find something else to adjust that and not much room left for a water bottle. First impressions are good though
