Rise and wet weather

Just asking if anyone has had problems in the wet with their Rise
Took my Rise out yesterday in what can only be described as a two hour power shower. At 30k got two red blinking lights. Tried to connect etube but it was so wet my phone screen went on the blink. Found shelter under a tree and as the bike dried off it powered up ok. Got home and there is no error log.
Conditions were bad with motor getting splashed and covered in mud and water running down the frame.
My Rise has already been through one UK winter no problems so wondering if this is an one off incident.

Finally found the problem , error log appeared E01030 after turning off and on again
This is a return to dealer issue which I have, waiting for the outcome.

Anyone else had this E01030 as the literature is a bit vague

I had this error. Repeated power cycling (2-7 times off/on, off/on...) eventually cleared the error and I could ride. Happened every time the bike was powered off. Once cleared it rode fine.
Eventually the motor just died...and was non responsive.Took it to the shop... orbea replaced with new motor...

Received my bike back, new motor (replaced under warranty).

Good to see a manufacturer with a no quibble returns policy, well done Shimano.

LBS said no comments from Shimano as to the what or why, just a new motor turned up. Slotted it in and off it went.

I am worried about the longevity of this motor as it had under 3000km on it when it failed.

5 days of wet riding. Then flashing red lights with E01020/30/51 (not always the same error on a start). [edit - 5 days of bike stored in warm and dry and still giving error)

I'm wondering on next steps. has anyone added waterproofing to the motor connections or is this likely water inside motor? or just a coincidence?

If it's out of guarantee I'd drop the motor and spray everything with silicone/WD40 spray to get rid of any moisture, disconnect, clean and reconnect all cables then spray/apply ACF50.

2 1/2 years old, 4500ish km so out of warranty but way short of what I'd hope was the lifespan of the motor.

we'll see what happens.

I would take it to the shop and ask them to contact Shimano, yours lasted longer than mine but I would expect longer life than this, good luck

I think part of the problem is that once water gets in, it's not really got anywhere to go.

Ok, water will run out the whole on the bottom of the frame but moisture in the connectors etc just isn't going to dissipate quickly.

I removed my motor at the weekend and despite not seeing any rain for 2 weeks, the inside of the frame smelled damp. Like wet mud.

I'd be tempted to remove the motor and leave the bike upside down for a day or two, maybe waft some warm air through the frame with a hairdryer. Disconnect everything that you can disconnect, clean all the contacts and put it all back together again. It will only take a small amount of moisture in a connector to potentially (see what I did there?) screw up signals to/from the controller.

Maybe a small amount of dielectric grease on the contacts before reassembly would help.
