Hey everyone,

How are you? Well, you know what I mean...all things considered!

I've got a question about swapping my Rockshox Lyrix 35 for a Fox 36 on my 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo base model. Where's the best place to post this?
I'm not sure if I should be in Specialized, ebikes, maybe there's a fox sub? I'm thinking a 36mm 160mm 51mm offset. or the 38? I'm 182lbs, casual rider that likes to have a bit of fun. Thanks and please let me know if I'm in the right forum for this. Have a great day!

Hey, not sure what you’d gain going upto the 38, I’d be sticking with either the lyrik or the 36s on that bike. Lyrik ultimates are quite cheap at the moment, approx £600/650 and the 36s about £850/900 make sure you shop around when you have decided.

agree, lyrik is a good fork and if you can pick up the ultimate for a good price then its a no brainer.
the only thing ive noticed is that the Zeb can often be bought for around the same money as the lyrik, again its a no brainer

The Lyrix has a bit of stiction that I can't seem to get rid of (checked levels/replaced oil) and it doesn't feel like the plush fox 34 I had on my Santacruz, what a sweet fork that was. That's when I realized the Fox is a really nice piece, albeit a lot more money. The Lyrix was more of a budget fork, but hey, it's a base model Levo, what else should I expect? Thanks for the reply.

Haha, each to their own. My two Nomad V4s have lyriks and my 5010 and DH bike have fox 36 and 40s respectively. Tbh I prefer the lyriks, they are both running the 2021 air spring , one is the Rc2 model and the other is the rct3 .

I don't mind the Lyrix either, and would consider upgrading the seals or internals if it would help, but don't want to sink too much into it when I know the Fox would be a nice swap. :)

You do not say which Lyric you have. Your best value would be to install the 2021 Debonair air spring for c £60. I have the Lyric Ultimate on my Levo Comp and find it is a really good match for the bike. Mine is the Charger 2.1 RC2..............if yours has the MC damper, that is another upgrade you could consider and still cost you less than half the price of a new fork.

I’m having trouble finding the model, all I can see on it is rockshox 35. I swear I saw Lyrix somewhere. Here are some pictures.

thats what it is, a rockshox 35, not a great fork.
the lyrik will be an improvement, pretty big one to be fair and if you can find a zeb for the same kinda money, why not go for that

Would love to know where you've seen those prices in the uk, do you have any links please?

has anyone tried a different offset on their bike? I've got a 51mm and found a fork with a 44mm offset. Everything else is perfect, just wondering if I'd notice the different offset. I believe my trail distance will INCREASE making the bike steer more slowly. I'm an amateur and probably wouldn't notice the difference but I thought I'd check with someone who actually knows. Thanks very much!

The shorter offset is more usual on a fork for 27.5 wheels so check the one you are looking at is for a 29er.
Shorter offset = larger trail= slower steering = increased stability in twisty fast gravity runs.....but potentially "lazy" steering on flatter trails. Well thats the theory but so many other geo factors come into play that you will not really know exactly how noticeable that is until you try it..........and someone else's experience may not be relevant to you because it also depends what sort of riding you do and to what level.
Your safest bet is to stick with what the original designer specified.

I appreciate the link to the zebs @dobbyhasfriends but I'm looking for either some more fox36's (non e-bike) or some lyrik ultimates to save a few grams with 160mm travel and 51mm offset... And no quick release.
