Getting a reducer does not lessen the weakness caused by the larger hole - my preference is purely functional strength or minimising the weak spot. No hole would be ideal, but not possible...yet.
Weakness due to a 1mm bigger hole is not relevant to me.
I drive 27.5 - 2.8 on tractor style wheels.

I believe it could be an issue for road race bikeswith narrow rims.

Dont think ive ever seen a rim fail at the valve hole. Plenty rip spokes out, plenty cracking around spoke holes, plenty cracking or folding at pinned joints, many just beaten to death. But never any failure at the valve hole, at least alu rims. There is so much tension at spoke holes the rim needs to be pretty strong to survive. Between spokes there is little load/stress, hence why light rims have machining between spokes or even cut-outs. Im sure some very very light and thin rims might have issues but those will have presta anyway.

That extra mm is probably the same surface area as the presta hole itself.
